I hate this ‘about me’ section. I’ve always hated talking about myself, so instead I’m gonna talk about the things that mean the most to me it this world, in no particular order.
1) My friends. I have the best ones. We’re honest, outrageous, and a bit insane. We’re also good people. My truest friends are the ones with aspirations to help people and make a difference. We’re also creative and a bit unorthodox. In short, we’re the people that have been teased, taunted, and generally misunderstood most of our lives. That doesn’t matter though, we have each other.
2) Art. And by this I mean visual, musical, performance, written, and many others. I’ve always been drawn to the aesthetics in life. Beauty is everywhere, from the children who walk down the street holding hands, to the wrinkled old man in his chair pretending to watch the world with blind eyes. From royal palaces to decrepit shacks to burnt out industrial buildings. From trees and flowers to waste lands and dumps. There is beauty to be found in all of it.
3) Photography. My way of relating to the beauty of the world. I never feel so powerful, so sure, and so clear headed as I do with a camera in my hand.
4) Spirituality. Not to be confused with religion of course. I love to explore things that may not always make sense in this world. Whether it be through self analysis, magic, or even science. My favorite things to think about, and my favorite things to discuss with my closest friends, are those greater possibilities and truths that may be out there.
5) The environment. There is a reason that I’m an environmental science major. No species has more impact on this planet than humans; therefore no other species has our level of responsibility to preserve the environment. Somewhere along the way we forgot to give in the ‘give and take’ process of resource usage. Right now it’s still fixable, but that could change sooner than we think. Read ‘Silent Spring’ by Rachel Carson. Watch ‘An Inconvenient Truth.’ Think about it.
6) Glamour, Kitsch culture, burlesque, glitter and glam. Things that just scream ‘If I’d been a boy, I’d be a flaming queen.’ I dress in costume as much as possible to go to Renaissance faires, the movies, Denny’s, you get the idea. Sometimes I really get into that ‘the whole world is a stage’ mentality.
7) Entertainment/Media. I’ll admit it I’m a total entertainment geek and techno junkie. Movies, TV, music, as well as anything digital that you could find at circuit city. Sometimes I get lost a bit in the cyber life, and sometimes I can’t afford it, but there it is.

Christian: Jesus lent us chairs.
Kelly: OMG, Shoes!

Laura: (to Jenna) Shouting "Penis" in class does not constitute class participation.
Laura: (calls Stacey on phone) Stacey, you're artsy, I need your help. I'm buying new red sheets and I'm thinking of getting a comforter, but it's a slightly more purplish shade of red and I think they might clash. Should I get it anyway?
Stacey: Just ask yourself one question, can you see yourself waking up in the middle of the night and tearing the sheets off your bed because they don't match the blanket?
Laura: yes
Stacey: Then DON'T get it.
(another wonderful aim conversation with Jenna)
Laura: Did you ever just wish you could leave your entire life behind, hop on a pirate ship and be in tortuga by sundown??
Jenna: yup.
Laura: That's where i am right now
Jenna: why?
Laura: because I'd rather be smelly, hairy, and suffering from scurvey than doing homework right now.
