About Me

Hello there, my names Hugo Reyes, but everyone knows me as Hurley. I am Latino and live in Los Angeles. I'm a happy-go-lucky kind of person, I like to provide comic relief. I work at Mr. Clucks Chicken Shack and yes, i do live with my mother. I love her dearly. I won $114 million on the lottery using numbers that a fellow psychiatric patient, Leonard, used to mutter. The day after winning this money, i quit my job and spent the day with my friend Johnny. Th bad news is, the people around me started to experiance misfortune. My grandfather suddenly died during an interview with the news crews. Lightning strikes the priest at my granfathers funeral. My brother lost his wife to another woman. My mother broke her ankle while getting out of the car to see the new house I bought her. Then the house catches fire. I was falsely arrested after being mistaken for a drug dealer. And finally, my previous place of employment, Mr. Clucks Chicken Shack, was destroyed by a meteorite. However, I do have some luck. My winnings continue to accumilate after the overinsurance on a sneaker company I own, catches fire and consumes the factory and causes several deaths. My false arrest results in a hefty settlement and i acquire a box company in Tustin, California. Eventually, i end up with $156 million! Despite this, I have come to the conclusion that the lottery numbers I used - 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 - are cursed. When I returned to the hospital to ask Leonard where he got the numbers from, he said he heard them while working with a naval officer called Sam Toomey. The two of them had heard the numbers when monitoring radio signals from the Pacific Ocean. I managed to track Toomey down to his home in outback of Australia, only to find out from his wife that he had also thought the numbers were cursed and he killed himself to finally escape them.© MCT
