About Me

Darrell was born in Fresno California but grew up mostly in the Atlanta Georgia area. His first public performance was in elementary school at the age of eight. As a youngster, Darrell was influenced and enjoys playing various styles of music including Country, Rock, Motown/ Funk, R&B, and Southern rock.Darrell joined his first rock band "Empire" when he was 16, not long before moving to Atlanta Georgia. He then started the rock band "Rapid Fire" playing high school parties and various events. In the mid 80's, Darrell and his friend Keith Stancil (now marketing VP for Word Entertainment Nashville) started the original music band "Interface". Darrell began to develop his songwriting, producing, and recording skills. The band achieved some success with many public performances. Interface was picked for a compilation record called "Off The Tracks" by the GSU's Commercial Music Department. The song "Lightshine", written by then keyboard player Russ Still, was recorded at the Atlanta Rhythm Section's "Studio One" in Doraville. Darrell put down the bass and harmony vocal tracks. Brendan O'Brien engineered and Co-produced the session. The next few years Darrell concentrated and developed his songwriting skills in his home studio. This time was also used for music business education. During this time, he also became a songwriter member of ASCAP.In 1996, he was invited to play bass in the country band "Crazy Horse". After a couple personnel changes, the band changed its name to "Santa Fe" with Darrell as the bassist and back-up vocalist. Santa Fe became quite popular in the Atlanta area. Darrell took on a leadership role and handled the promotion, marketing, booking, and was the primary songwriter. Darrell became a publisher member of ASCAP. He wrote and published the Santa Fe CD titled "Home". The CD received good reviews and airplay on WYAI 105.5 in Carrolton, GA. It was also released in Belgium on Radio Milo. The CD sold about a thousand copies in the Atlanta and surrounding areas. Santa Fe was also featured on the Kim Peterson Show in Atlanta. Santa Fe was nominated and awarded the 2000 Contemporary Country Band of the Year by the Atlanta Society of Entertainers, and featured at the 2000 Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame Awards. Darrell was also a guest at the 2000 Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards.Darrell's many performances include shows with Sawyer Brown, Clay Walker, Chad Brock, David Ball, Trace Adkins, Rhett Akins, Vince Gill, Doug Stone, and Confederate Railroad.Darrell currently works with various country artists including Kecia Garland, Cindy Roberts, and Ryan Casper.
