KAYAKMAN HERE IS THE KAYAKMAN LALA LALALA LALALALA

About Me

Kayak Man is proof that a small few can make a lot of good noise. The multi-faceted quartet, featuring guitarist and vocalist Tato Vega, keyboardist and moog bassist Fernando Rivas, Zeke on guitar and Kevin Tooley on drums, fuses intense rock and soul undertones into an energy that we won't slow down. The witnesses to their music who are actually able to remain seated end up sweating with excitement in their chairs.
Kayak Man's serendipitous convergence of sounds was evident from the beginning. Vega, a former guitarist for Spanish world fusion artist Manu Chau, and Rivas, a professional pianist and music teacher, created Kayak Man during a spontaneous jam session at a party in Miami in 2003. They jumped on stage to improvise some rock steady tunes and embarked upon a musical journey that has since taken them onto the stages of major venues throughout South Florida.
Kayak Man has opened for well-known international artists Seu Jorge of Brazil and Ojos de Brujo of Spain, and it has also participated in a number of popular music festivals.
The band's overall sound is festive, funky and retro, with influences ranging from Bob Marley to the Beach Boys to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to the intensity of the legendary Astor Piazolla's tangos.
The alternative weekly Miami New Times honored the band this year with a Best of Miami music award under the category Best Beach Blanket Bingo, a reference to the popular 1960s surf movie by the same title. It's fitting.
Kayak Man offers regular performances at some of the hottest live music venues in South Florida.
Kayak Man doesnt like to be boxed into any one particular genre or time period. While the band's recently released album Kayak vs. Kayak (on the independent label Lucky Love) is a mellow studio mix, their next album (also due out this year) will feature the harder-driving rock edge that made them popular at Miami Beach's more alternative live music venues such as Jazid, Senior Frogs and the Purdy Lounge.
