Ten years later he decides it's not too late and gets himself new gear and starts making music again. What his electronic dance music concerns, Oscar Kerkman is producing modern music with firm roots in the old-school house tradition. Influenced by great names from past and future, Dutch stars as DJ Dimitri, Eric Nouhan, Quazar and American producers like Armand van Helden, Todd Terry and Joey Beltram. This combined with a great love of jazz, particularly the music of Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, creates a blend of eclectic, electronic but also jazzy sound with a strong rythmic base.
Oscar likes to put a little story in every song he makes, or a feeling of a place he has been or a situation that occured in his life. The sound is continuously evolving, as his production skills and ideas about music progress.
The production of dance music is not the only aspect of music this artist is interested in. The past year he started to write and compose songs with a more serious character. The possibility of performing these songs with musicians is currently being looked at.
Making music in different styles in different genres is the now the big challenge for this producer, with one great common idea behind it, making people move(d).
