*** Making Jon smile*** *** Purring cats *** *** PAWS *** *** My favorite drink is an iced vanilla latte with a ridiculous amount of caramel *** *** The smell of wool. *** *** I get myself in trouble because I love all animals and am constantly trying to rescue them... but then I can't keep them and have to find good homes for them which turns into quite a drama. *** *** I hate fake things - fake flowers, fake light, fake air, and of course "fake" people... *** *** Gramatically-incorrect writing really bugs me... so do people who mix up words like there/their/they're... Maybe I'm just a brat, or maybe I was an editor or an English teacher in a past life! *** *** I will never drink Pepsi. Ever. It is disgusting. I love COKE and drink it at least once a day, although only if it's fountain Coke with ice and a straw... yes I realize how high maintenance I'm sounding right about now...!! I'm pretty sure I'm one of those "high maintenance women who think they're low maintenance" that Harry says are the worst kind! *** *** I hate having to be in a hurry. I especially hate it when other people make me feel like I have to be in a hurry. *** *** I have way too many clothes - partially because I never grow, and partially because I love shopping (for "bargains" of course!) *** *** I love REAL mail. As in, LETTERS, on stationary, with real handwriting and stamps... I love stamps. *** *** And I HATE talking on the phone. No matter how much I love and miss you, I will hardly ever call you back. I guess that's why God invented voicemail. *** *** Other things I hate: SNAKES, sirens, tornadoes, and cigarette smoke. *** *** I would rather be outdoors than inside. *** *** I love eating in restaurants. This is maybe because I don't (yet?) so much love to cook. *** *** I don't need much excitement to make me happy... I'm a pretty simple girl! *** *** I make lots of lists, because it makes me feel productive to cross things off of them. *** *** People often call me a little Christmas elf. That being said, "Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus" is one of my favorite literary works of all time. *** *** I refuse to make myself so busy that I don't have time to just relax and do nothing sometimes... or a lot of the time! *** *** Which leads to another favorite thing of mine: sleeping! Look up "not a morning person" in the Dictionary of Where Sayings Originated, and you will see a picture of me. Sleeping. *** *** Someday I want a house with a wraparound porch and a kitchen full of Fiestaware. *** *** I don't like carpet, or white walls *** ** I really like traveling to new places. I also like being at home. Both are good to me. *** *** I am pretty much always five minutes late, no matter how hard I try to be on time. *** *** Places you will NOT find me include: the gym; The Republican National Convention; Indian food restaurants; places that smell like onions (gross!); hanging out with people who are condescending or stuck-up. *** *** Sometimes I'm a vegetarian and sometimes I'm not.. I'm leaning towards the vegetarianism though. Ever since I met a family who had chickens for pets and really, really loved them. *** *** I am STUBBORN, and LOYAL, and stubbornly loyal... No matter what. Probably to a fault. *** *** I love very, very, very passionately. *** *** I have high expectations... *** *** but I will forgive a LOT. *** *** FALL is my favorite season. *** *** I have an insane amount of sweaters! *** *** I love all things miniature. *** *** I am terrified of going to the dentist. *** *** Being concise... is not my strong point! *** *** My brothers and sisters are all younger than me, but all taller than me! *** *** Even if I get extremely rich I will still shop at Target. *** *** I am very cuddly and affectionate. *** *** I collect snowglobes. *** *** I care much more about having GOOD friends than having MANY friends. *** *** Little things mean a lot to me. And I think that actions usually speak louder than words. *** *** I like fireworks, twinkly lights, stained glass windows and lamps, and the colors in Van Gogh paintings. *** *** Paul Reiser, David Sedaris, Jon Stewart, and CRAIG FERGUSON all crack me up!! *** *** I love working with Habitat for Humanity because it exemplifies the notion of "LOVE IN ACTION." *** *** I love gin and tonics with tons of limes. *** *** I am pretty much always cold. Even if it's summer. *** *** I am simultaneously very interested in and very frustrated by politics. I have a bumper sticker that says "Jed Bartlett is my President." *** *** I believe that everyone should be treated equally. *** *** I believe that everyone deserves a 2nd (or a 6th, or 18th) chance. NO MATTER WHAT. ***

Oh how I love watching movies! Going to movies at the movie theater is one of my favorite activities. This is partially because I am hypnotized by the smell of the buttery popcorn... My other favorite thing about going to movies is the PREVIEWS... I love the previews; sometimes they're better than the actual movies that they're advertising! My newest addition to the favorites list is DAN IN REAL LIFE - so great!!! Some of my all-time favorite re-watchable movies include: SERENDIPITY, WAKING THE DEAD, BABY BOOM, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, KEEPING THE FAITH, YOU'VE GOT MAIL, LOVE ACTUALLY, FAMILY MAN, ONE FINE DAY, THE NOTEBOOK, BEWITCHED, DE-LOVELY, MONA LISA SMILE, THE CUTTING EDGE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, THE STORY OF US, EMMETT OTTER'S JUGBAND CHRISTMAS, and THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT. More recently, I really enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine, Dreamgirls, THE HOLIDAY!, Music and Lyrics, The Namesake, Knocked Up, *WAITRESS*, and Dan in Real Life!
I am pretty ADDICTED to watching TV shows on DVD...... Past/current obsessions of the TV-on-DVD variety include THE WEST WING (The first 3 seasons are my favorite TV, ever. Every show is like a perfect little mini-movie!), ***GILMORE GIRLS!!!***, MAD ABOUT YOU, FRIENDS, GREY'S ANATOMY, AMERICAN DREAMS (thanks Amy!), FELICITY, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, and BIG LOVE. I also like to watch EVERWOOD, HUFF, JUDGING AMY, and episodes of "Biography" and "Inside the Actor's Studio." We just discovered "Heroes" and that's pretty fun too!
Right now I'm big on Joyce Carol Oates. And also Anna Quindlen, whose book RISE AND SHINE is a recent fave. It is about a SOCIAL WORKER who has a "powerful affection for grammar" :) and there is a *butterfly* on the cover ~ what's not to love?!?! Favorite story of all time = O Henri's "Gift of the Magi." And for working with kids or just remembering BEING a kid, nothing beats the Berenstein Bears!!
People who aren't afraid of being by themselves. People who are brave enough to love someone (the same someone, or different someones) more than once, especially if they've been loved and left before.
