I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm an activist, an academic, and a woman looking for a little peace in the world. I teach in the Department of Communication Studies and am the Coordinator of Women's Studies at Eastern Illinois University. I've worked with domestic violence and rape crisis centers for many years now and research gendered violence, rhetorics of resistance, and feminisms. I believe a world without violence is one worth pursuing. I love teaching, wrestling with my dog, passionate people, humility, drives in the country, crafting for and taking pictures of my friends (and sometimes making crafts with pictures I've taken of my friends), my friends. I live with my lovely animals -- Ari (the orange cat from muncie) and Sisco (the lab/pit-bull). Come visit us me Charleston, please!

My Interests

a good protest (or even a bad one for the right cause), bad popular culture, movies that I should have seen by now and books I should have read by now (I'm taking recommendations), lists (making lists and checking things off of lists), good music (also taking recommendations on this), yoga, dog walking/wrestling, crafts, photography, racquetball, gardening, i'm returning to the violin, my friends -- i am quite interested in my group of people
