About Me

Biography for author, writer, poet and composerNavigator was born as Michael Council, December 18th, at the age of five I realized that I was gifted with the power of the spoken word. At my kindergarten graduation ceremony, I quickly stunned the audience with a prolific speech entitled "Happiest Child Alive". I was born in Mississippi, went to Broad Street High School in Shelby, Mississippi. I am a Gulf War Veteran. During the Gulf War, it became a year of spoken words. I was writing so many letters back home to family; friends and the local newspapers. This is where I started to improve on my craft of writing spoken words. I would write poems about the war and the conditions in which we had to survive under the heat and just living the life of a soldier you know, "That Man". I was a young soldier but didn't think about what I was doing at the time just a job out of high school. After the war, I had a tour in Europe. My destiny guided me to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and from the flatlands of the Mississippi Delta to Atlanta, Georgia in 1997.I have a background in fashion, fashion marketing and modeling experience. My objective is to express the spoken word through positive dialogue giving a message so open and clear that you understand what I speak with truth and care. My name NAVIGATOR comes from Navigator Sportswear clothing line that I have been apart of since the early 90's. I am one of many PoetryDJs, www.poetrydj.com and my goal is to open your mind from a poet's prospective and grace your audiences with music and spoken words that when you listen to it, it empowers your thinking for that moment, motivates, educates you on Urban Spoken words that we live by daily. I have done shows from the North2dSouth2dEast2dWest (NAVIGATOR) including the Southeastern regions down through the MASON Dixon line, I loved Dejangos(ATL) because I experienced the games about the GAME, The Apache Cafe and other venues throughout the city I paid some poetic dues. I give much thanks to all the poets and musical talents that have open doors to present a different expression through words & music at a time when words and music give directions in which we program ouselves to live by. I thank you for the opportunity to introduce my spoken words with original music to you as a audience and I hope that you get something positive during your listening. I welcome you to the Levels of Fashion, level one is "Cotton".
