Still in the process of putting my profile together right now
Hi, my name's Long (Yes really), girls seem to smile when I tell them that, wonder what they must be thinking?lol. It means 'Dragon' and represents the symbol of yang, the universe, life, existence, and growth.
I never really know where to begin with these things, well... My first real memories are growing up in S.E. London, in a lovely town called Thamesmead (its next to Woolwich, which may mean more to you). Supposedly a development of high and low-rise blocks with interconnecting walkways (Multi's and concrete masionettes to you and me) which was suppose to solve the problems of the inner city 'slum housing', yeah right.
Went to Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar School, where I experienced the joys of a bright purple blazer (& the 3 buses just to get there). This is where I was introduced to Rugby, playing in every 1st XV game for 2 years amd ended up one of only two people in the year to gain school 1st XV colours twice. I had a wonderful coach, who unfortunately past away on 23rd November'06, after losing his battle to a brain tumour. Mr Horrobin, you will be sadly missed.
Wasn't too sure on what I wanted to do, ended up moving to Dundee to study on the world's first degree in Computer Games. After I tried to start my own business as part of my Post Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship. The cage fighting venture, fell at the waist side, after the council banned the event happening in the the last minute.
After uni, I decided to stay in Dundee. It's been the biggest decision I've had to make, it wasn't easy to leave my family behind in London as they are everything to me. I'm so fortunate to have them in my life, not to mention many close friends who are now all scattered around the country.
For a living, you guess you could say that I catch baddies. Somedays you think maybe I have helped the world to be a better place, well for a little while at least and that makes it all worthwhile. I'd rather be a guy who has big dreams and no money, than a guy with no dreams and big money. So not letting the failure of my first venture get me down, I now started to get into property. In the future my plans are to open a proper fighters gym with cage.
One of my many passions, is the sport Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) or Ultimate fighting as it is more commonly known. Described as the worlds' most physically and mentally challenging sport, its seriously misunderstood. Many people find it hard to believe I do it, stating your not like that, as if you have to be mean or aggressive. It nothing to do about about violence or egos. I do it because I love to compete, the months of training, commitment and then testing myself. Oh and the ring girls ain't to bad either, lol.
Unlike many other sports, you can't rely on others. Once you enter the cage, its just you, facing a guy who's only goal is to hurt you so much you can't continue, the lights, the crowd, the adrenaline. It can only be describe as intense. To lose means, you're not just emotionally beaten but physically, you put it all on the line. Just check out the emotion, the passion, in the following highlight reel, the face says it all
I teach and compete, I've had a couple of professional fights. I'm back in training at the mo and be getting back into the cage soon.
When people meet me for the first time, I tend to sit back and don't show much of who I am. It's easy to put on a persona and be fake, instead I'm a big believer that actions speaks louder than words. I rather take the time and get to know someone, so unless your a close friend, you'll only catch a glimpse of me.
Some of the other things I love, are most importantly my family. I love seeing smiles, I love to laugh, love good food especially, mum's and sister Hue cooking and love going home. I also love the way kids draw, it was Picasso who said, once I drew like Raphael, but it has taken me a whole lifetime, to learn to draw like children. I love Gizmo and Teddy, who are the Persian cat's I got for my sister. I love treating people and giving surprises.
I love learning new things and one day intend to write my own book. I love the journey called life. I believe in Karma and that everything happens for a reason. There are lots of stuff I love...
There isn't that much I dislike, I hate people who disrespect their families, getting stuck in traffic and celery is one of the few things I can't eat. I hate liars and bullies, it doesn't take much to be honest to someone and yourselves.
