inBox Magazine & DVD was recently interviewed by STLRiverfrontRadio.com in above video!
Emerging from the arch bound city of St.Louis Missouri is NEKAY. This young music artist/songwriter began her music career at the age of 12 years old as the 3rd member of the hip-hop and R&B group Qd3 (Cutie). NEKAY laced the group’s tracks with ear catching hot hip-hop lyricals. With songs like “(Check Yo Man)” and “(I Will Give Anything)”, which where both produced by super producers “Track Staz” and received radio airplay on a number of local college radio stations in the St.Louis area.
After departing from the group NEKAY hit the music scene as a solo artist. Blazing up the airwaves with songs like “(Make It Hot An Sexy)” and “(I’m Popular)”, as well as captivating her audience with her stage performances at local YMCA’s and highschools and local talent shows. With the buzz around town about this new female rap artist Actor/ Comedian Joe Torry approached NEKAY and asked if she would perform at his 2004 Give Back The Love Celebrity Basketball Game. In which NEKAY said yes. NEKAY rocked the event along side 100.3 The Beats DJ Lil Shorty with songs that she co-wrote with Lil Shorty called “(Shorty)” and “(Back In Forth)”.
Known for her hot lyrical content Nekay was salute after to ghost write for a number of national signed recording artists out of the St.Louis area, unremarkable for both male and female artists. One song that she co-wrote landed an artist a major recording deal with Atlantic Records. And that song became the biggest song requested on both Radio One and Clear Channels radio stations in the St.Louis area.
Now not just stepping in front of the mic and putting pen to pad with electrifying rhymes. Nekay likes to step outside the box. Interning at Clear Channels radio station 100.3 The Beat the number one hip-hop and R&B radio station in St.Louis she stepped up the game and won the best female intern of the year.
“I’m glad that I had a chance to not just rock the mic as an artist but to work behind the scenes. It gives you more love for the game. Interning I was able to network with established national recording artist and to up my skills as a radio personality”
Not only wearing the hat of the number one intern Nekay shined her skills and put her voice to the test not just as a music artist but as a voice over for a number of radio commercials. Nekay has also gained a huge fan base as the host of (In Box Magazine And DVD), which is the number one hip-hop magazine in the St.Louis and metro East (East St.Louis, Ill.) area. Nekay has not only dropped vocals in the studio with national music artists but has had the chance to do one on one TV interviews with artists such as Jon B, Rich Boy of (BET’s 106 And Park), Capitol Records artist Mims and Something of (VH1’s Flava Of Love).
Nekay has got it all. Ready to take the music industry back to real rap. She’s not just your fly by night one hit wonder but a storyteller. NEKAY GOT NEXT!!!!!!
