About Me

*** Update: Chad and Patrice are expecting the birth of their first child July 2008!!! Watch out world! :) ***
Chad Anderson was born and raised in Mississippi, and grew up in a musical family. He spent the early portion of his life developing skills as a visual artist while simultaneously studying music, including early studies on both piano and violin before eventually picking up the drums. While in college earning both his BFA and MFA degrees in the visual arts, he continued to pursue his private music studies and performances across the country and abroad.
In the 20+ years Chad has been playing drums, he has studied with and/or has been mentored by musicians such as Alvin Fielder, London Branch, Marvin 'Bugalu' Smith, Edward 'Kidd' Jordan, Joel Futterman, Vernel Fournier, Cooper-Moore, and others. His drumming can be heard on a number of recording sessions, including a CD release, People Here, under his own name. He has performed various jazz festivals and concerts in the USA and in Europe.
Chad’s background in visual art continues to inspire his output as a musician, and he has performed extensively in improvisational art and music collaborations, both in the role of musician and visual artist.
Chad has performed formally and/or informally, in various settings, with musicians such as: Hugh Masakela, Herman Green, Rahsaan and Roland Barber, Henry P. Warner, Rodney Jordan, Joel Futterman, London Branch, Toby Tenhet, Mark Applebaum, Calvin Newborn, Darryl Reeves, Bruce Dudley, Moe Denham, Miles Griffith, Michael Jefry Stevens, and many more.
Chad is currently a proud endorser of Istanbul Agop Cymbals.
