The SMS started for the first time in 2002. Back in these days it was nearly impossible for young bands as ours (Agamendon and The Claymore) to earn well-organized gigs. The only way out of this dilemma was to launch our own festival- the SMS was born.
One of the Ideas of the SMS is to give young acts the possibility to share the stage with bigger, well experienced bands and performer to a greater crowd.
The first SMS became a hughe success. With the help of many friends and tons of luck we were able to sign the german metal legend ANGEL DUST as a headliner. Over 700 metalheads, even foreign, came to Castrop-Rauxel to make the SMS to a mighty drinkin rock event....well never forget this !!
After that we organized dozends of club-concerts with different acts from all over germany and also europe- what an experience Over the years bands like..........Totenmond, Tankard, Rebellion, Dew Scented, Angel Dust..... played at our festival- and club shows.
The main SMS-philosophy NOT gaining the greatest possible ammount of money out of the festival, its about giving bands the best conditions and offering the ordeance a great show to the lowest prizes.
