Since 2004, the melodic rock band Touch has been balancing the Reykjavik music scene, replacing the ubiquitous shoe-gazers with floor humpers, and the typical blaring feedback with crystal clear Fender blues.Their radio single "Justify", a hit on Xfm and Ras 2 displays the startling range and deft song-writing of frontman Böddi, whose voice and guitar work have been borrowed on a number of other recent studio albums. Second song released, hit the ..1 at Top 20 Flass fm in Iceland.
But beyond their studio work, Touch is more and more known for their live
shows: unrestrained and goofy, they are a weekly staple in Reykjavk, when they arent touring Iceland, or making a trip to America to barnstorm New York City clubs like Pianos, Rothko and Sin-E.Like many dominating live blues-based bands, Touch is centered on a powerhouse drummer, Kópur. Behind his driving beats, the band soars through original melodic rock tunes, contrasted by stage antics ranging from back flips to stripping to flat out contortion acts.
"Böddi, often seemingly ecstatic about his voice and body, flops on the floor, jumps from tables and croons to anyone who will come near him," said the Reykjavik Grapevine about a show Touch performed during the 2004 Gay Pride Celebration. "After months of covering droning Icelandic hipster rock, [a Touch concert is] as refreshing as a Budweiser on a warm summer day."
