Here Is a brief profile of Lee and his career so far...
Djing now since 98, Lee got his first gigs playing in various Dj Competitions around Sheffield’s city centre. But his first chance of playing for a proper rave venue was in March 99 For Uprising. The promoter at the time (Paul-O) was so impressed by Lee’s drive, determination and love for what he played that he booked him on a regular basis for both Uprising & Revolution. As 2000 came around Lee was playing for numerous small and larger nights around The north at such nights as Species, Revolution, Defiance & Vibealite. He became a regular fixture for these events, and even took up residencies with Defiance, Vibealite and Species. By late 2000 Lee was playing not only hardcore But also Gabber & Hardstyle, showing what a versatile Dj he was, His demo wes soon picked up by Kaos for the Legendary Future Dance events in London, where he performed regularly until being named resident. Now with Residencies & regular bookings at Future Dance, North, Cypher, Rewind, Species, Revolution, Defiance & Vibealite, Lee decided it was time to maybe start his own brand and in the summer of 2001 Bedlam The event was born, Bedlam went on to run for 15 Very successful months, Until Lee put the event on hiatus for him to start producing music and getting a label started, practicing production from home while learning the trade with his engineer The Legendary Devastate. Lee was able to set up a label in December of 2003 With Bedlam Records releasing It's first vinyl. The release did exceptionally selling out pretty fast and hitting 2 major albums during the month of its release. Bookings followed over the next few years at such events as Hardcore Heaven, Hardcore Heaven Weekender, Slammin Vinyl, Futurevibe, The mighty Fantasy Island Events. Dizstruxshon, Bowlers & his first gig abroad. Trancentral In France
Here Are a selection of flyers from events I have played at over the years
Lee first started his hand at promoting during the summer of 2001 when himself and a few friends who were then just up and coming Djs wanted somewhere for themselves to play on a regular basis in There hometown of sheffield. After Getting some helpfull advise from friendly promoters Lee had worked for, They approached a small pub in sheffield. and quired a saturday night on june 12th 2001. Even though the night was a huge success, The night brought quite alot of problems from the actual owners and locals themselves who did not quite like the music policy, So it was time to move on, luckily already lee had secured a decent sized nightclub in Sheffield Centre named Uropa to try their 2 weeks later, Unfortunetly because of the event running on a thursday night Attendance was quite poor so it was back to the drawing board for Lee. Approaching numerous establishments around Sheffield Bedlam finally found a home just outside of the city centre, In the function room of a pub named George IV, The first event was a massive success now on a friday night. with people travelling from miles around to attend. The event then ran monthly and sometimes twice per month, with regular sell out events and some of the most interesting line ups for a small yorkshire night ever seen. Some of the Djs booked over the cource of the next year were. Vortex, Sharkey, Topgroover, Paul-O, Simz, Future Dance..s own Ethos, Vinyl & Devotion, Kevin Energy, Rascal & Alarm to name but a few. During the summer of 2002 This spawned Lee on to run his own Gabber/Techno event "Public Violation" to cater for the harder sounds that alot of Bedlams usual crowd seemed to love stomping too. Unfortunetly during the summer of 2002, Without any prior warning what so ever, The George IV pub was sold and the new owners stuck their nose up to the music policy even though the Bedlam Parties were a huge sucess, And Left Bedlam without a home. Working Quickly Lee & The other promoters searched hard for another venue, Securing a brand new 4 story night club Bang slap in the city centre called Freedowm. for this event Bedlam pulled out all the stops putting on its Biggest line up to date. using over 2 of the 4 rooms in the venue, although not the best turn out for Bedlam The night was a success and good things looked like it would come from it. Unfortunetly Non the wiser again The club sold out to new owners who had other plans for events held their and so in September 2002 Bedlam Had finally finished as an event.
From here the promoters went seperate ways giving Lee time to concentrate on his productions skills and new found love of wanting to start his own label and continue the Bedlam brand with Bedlam Records.
Although happy with concentrating on his label, Lee still had the itch to promote, a friend of Lee..s from Scunthorpe and fellow Dj C-5 had the idea of trying out a new venuture and wanted Lee involved. discussions followed and a decision was made to buy out another popular brand That both Lee & C-5 used to attend. Revolution was an event owned by Paul- O after he finished promoting Uprising, This was then shared with New promoter Topgroover who put the Revolution name to bed mid 2002, March 2003 Saw Lee UHF & C-5 present The return of Revolution at a newly refurbished Charles St club (formerly Freedom) Again the night went succcessfull without hiccup, Not a massive attendance But a great night was had. But unfortunetly the club was then sold yet again, before the next line up could hit the street.
During early 2004 Lee was Managing an independant Record store in sheffield while also running his label and Djing, The thought or promoting an event again had not crossed his mind for quite a while. an Old friend (Mc Keyes) from his school and early rave days paid Lee a visit, A chat came up about promoting again, And a meeting was held between the 2 on maybe starting up Bedlam Again on a much Larger scale. A venue was found with a good raving community just outside of Nottingham, In April 2004 Total Bedlam was born at the Venue In Long Eaton, The even went on to achieve quite high success in a very short period of time, by its ethic if supporting Great new talent, Putting it along side some of the unsung hero..s of the scene alongside some of its greats. blend all this with a very open music policy, A fantastic open minded crowd, & some of the most imaginative shows to come from a Hardcore classed event. The main room consisted of a vary of styles obviously mainly hardcore but reaching to Techno, Gabber, Old Skool & Trance, hosting some of the biggest, Best & Underrated names about such as, Sy, Hixxy, Styles, Mc Storm, Mc Whizzkid, Brisk, Scott Brown, Gammer, Sharkey, Marc Smith & Robbie Long to name a few, This accompanied by 1st time appearances in the midlands by CLSM PA, Joey Riot B2B Dj Kurt, Ephexis PA, Ninja Columbo PA, The First ever Sy & Scott Brown B2B, The Return Of Force & Styles to the midlands, & Hollands Unexist to name but a few. The 2nd room was regularly playing Host to a vast array of filthy 4/4 and broken music from around the world, Playing Gabber, Breakcore, Speedcore, Splitter & Drum n Bass from the Uk..s top Techno Djs to some of the hardest players In europe such as, the Uk..s Smurf, Dolphin, Teknoist, Infared, Ely Muff, Deathmachine, Tugie & Fracture 4. To europes, Outside Agency (Dj Hidden) Jappo, Bonehead & Stinger & Finally Canada..s Dj Plague. The 3rd room hosted many various sounds like Trance, DnB, Old Skool, Hard House & many Dj competitions where some winners have gone on to having quite successfull careers as late in the Hardcore scene,
All this brought on Uk Wide acclaim from ravers and Djs alike and gave Total Bedlam notoriety all over when it claimed 2nd in a poll in mixmag for The best monthly Hardcore night in the country (beaten only by HTID)
