About Me

Get Your Own Voice Player Manage what you say when no other words will do, when you want to express ultimate joy and excitement. It's more than an expression; 'oowee' is an exclamation, an irresistible release of passion. Moreover, it's the moniker foran 18-year old rapper who's music, charm and style are an apt manifestation of his name. Oowee! "I fear no one" says Oowee, a brash, young mc whose thugged out good looks and free-flowing rap delivery have earned him the admiration of heart-racing teenage girls and the respect of otherwise playa-hatin' wannabe rappers. "I'll put any bubblegum rapper to sleep when it comes to freestyling," he boasts. "And I'll hold my own with the best of 'em."Born on Walter Tucker March 11, 1986 in Asheville, North Carolina, Oowee began rapping at the age of nine. As he watched neighborhood b-boys perform on the streets and lay down tracks, he fell in love with the gritty beauty of hip hop. By the time he was 12, Oowee was in the studio honing his lyrical skills. More than a few took notice of him as his technique and lyrical content surpassed those MC's twice his age. "I always knew what I wanted to do. I watched and learned from the best and blew off the rest," he explains. "When you hear me, part of what you're hearing is a combination of all of rap music's best emcees, the rest of it is just me doing me." When Oowee was 13, he and his crew formed a group called Lost Colony. The four-member outfit held concerts at local venues, for crowds of 500 and more. Though the group was well received, it was clear from the audience's reaction that Oowee was the star and it wasn't long before he decided to go solo, quickly landing an opening spot for Petey Pablo and Trina as well as a halftime performance for the And One All-Star Basketball Game where he ripped the mic for some 4000 fans.In 2002, Oowee migrated to Atlanta, the south's new hip hop hotbed. Through friends and family, he was introduced to Pav, the production duo of Charles "P" and Louis Heriveaux and Bogard Music's general manager, Tone Henderson. They instantly recognized Oowee's star quality and took him under their wings. Though the Bogard affiliation made Oowee part of a burgeoning musical camp, he remained true to his style and his message. Oowee's music focuses on the issues confronting teenage boys growing up in a society driven alternately by its love for hip hop and its misunderstanding of it. It's about his street life experiences, about his antics, his struggles, his dreams. "I know what it's like out there for b-boys," he says. "That's what I rap about, that's my story." Oowee's story begins with "Mannish," his debut album. "Mannish" boldly conveys the messages and thoughts of an 18-year old who pours his experiences into his music. Written entirely by Oowee, "Mannish" is really music at its best. Featuring production by Pav, each song mixes hot hip hop beats with Oowee's smooth rap voice. The outcome is incredible. The first single, "Chain Swing," finds Oowee mixing it up with Petely Pablo while "Why Cray" pairs him with Snoop Dogg. On "Call Me" he reassures his special girl that she can count on him. "Classic" is a carefree jam about partying Oowee-style while "Something Else" and "Talk To Me" are edgy trash-talking tracks that unveil Oowee's mannish side. A self-proclaimed "Dennis the Menace," Oowee is an artist to keep on the radar as he ascends the ranks of hip hop, pushing his naughty boy appeal and his hard-hitting tracks through the crowded rap music game. For Oowee keeping it all on the up and up is not a choice. It's a must. "I may be young but I'm an old schooler," he says. "I've been through a lot in a little time and I want to share my experiences." Profile Edited by MMS MySpace Editor ..
