The Couch Jumpers

November 10 @ Club Relevant - CD RELEASE

About Me

We're NOT associated with Tom Cruise.
He went nuts on Oprah Winfrey's couch AFTER we came up with our name.
[SK3 = Ska Is Love!]
C ollectively, he Couch Jumpers are a Virginia Beach-based ska band with punk and reggae overtones. Our quintet is influenced by various artists ranging from Sublime to Johnny 9 And The Racers, and from older Green Day to the memories of tons of once-ska bands. Matt Cheatham plays a fretless bass and sings. Jeremiah Cahill plays the electric guitar, and also sings. The drummer is Jason Killmon, and he drums on a Pearl set. Josh Kaup is the tenor trombonist; Elliott Reed and Corey Bartos are the newest assets to the band playing the alto saxophone and the trumpet.
J ust being all of the members' first band, The CJs have played a lot of shows, two of which have been played at The NorVa. We already have a full-length album called "A Rude Awakening", and hoping for just that - to help revive the minds of many who've forgotten this sleeping genre. We'll be taking a break from recording for a while after their release of a self-produced album, writing new material and playing shows until possibly next summer. Then, a sophomore album may be in the works. The CJs usually write their own material but from time to time will play a cover of
"A Message To You, Rudy" by The Specials.
