.:LONGWAYDOWN BAND BIOGRAPHY:.
LONGWAYDOWN is an explosive hard rock band whose live performances have been creating a frenzy whenever they grace the stage, touring with the likes of Bif Naked, Theory of a Deadman, Wide Mouth Mason, Default, The Trews, Thornley and Armchair Cynics to name a few.
Conceived in the prairie capital city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in June of 2001, LONGWAYDOWN originated as a four piece project: Vocalist Jakk Grandy, guitarist Steve Faulkner, drummer Gerred Cloutier and bassist Ryan Hueston. Bass player Rob Komarnisky joined the band in June 2004 replacing Rob MacDonald.
July 2005 - Nathan Kidd was recruited to fill-in a then vacant drummer position for two performances and then officially joined the group in August 2005. Guitarist/vocalist Brian Makowsky answered a musicians wanted ad in a local magazine and completed the quintet in February 2006.
LONGWAYDOWN performed in the ‘Extreme Band Slam 2004’ as part of the Canadian Music Week regional finals before going on to win the ‘2005 Kokanee Free Ride’ in April and in July took a top three finish in ‘The Molson Canadian Rock Search’ out of fifty-six Canadian independent artists.
TRYING TIMES showcases some of the band's strongest material to date. The disc features drummer Kenny Aronoff (Rolling Stones, Smashing Pumpkins, Jon Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan and Avril Lavigne) who spent 4 days in Edmonton in August of 2005 recording drum tracks for the 7 song EP.
'Sick of it All' – influenced by personal experiences with gun violence and 'Around the Bend' a war-driven rock anthem highlight a disc of over the top, 'in-yer-face' hard rock grooves.
A live show that has been described as mesmerizing and engaging has pushed this band to pursue their place in an unforgiving music industry. With a fiery frontman, powerful anthems and a yet-to-forget live show, don't be surprised if you catch LONGWAYDOWN in a city near you very soon.
