eiven grew up in what was communist east germany, the german democratic republic (gdr). his first steps towards a musical career began at a very early age when he was two or three. his parents were convinced that their little one would eventually end up on the people's stage after watching him dancing and singing night after night, directly next to their robotron tv set, to the painful strains of west german hit parade music.
in the east, western products such as jeans, frozen peas or sophisticated technological goods, such as hi-fi sound systems, were only available through what was known as "the intershop", this was a store in which east germans could purchase western goods with hard earned west german currency coupons.
it was in such a shop that eiven¹s parents bought their first stereo cassette player. a ridiculously expensive monster of a machine, with numerous inputs, a manual balance control, a microphone input, noise reduction and most important, a special transport mechanism, it was portable! this feature alone, was to revolutionise eiven's music making abilities and it didn¹t take too long before the unit became permanently "adopted" into eiven's personal belongings.
this machine opened new doors to an alternative sound of music, staying awake well into the night, eiven would clandestinely tape the latest rap, hip-hop, funk, soul or disco, in the form of exclusive dj mixes, broadcast by the western radio stations such as afn (amercian forces network), sfb (radio free berlin) or rias (radio in the american sector).
his interest for the electronic drum sound was born from this era too and he would record drum sounds of 2-8 seconds, just for the sound.
eventually he had enough music on tape to present to his fellow schoolmates and soon he became know as "the music maker" which resulted in him being invited to play at parties, or at the school discos.
after the fall of the berlin wall in november 1989, eiven eventually moved to berlin in the summer of 1991. the inspiring, attractive and active atmosphere of berlin's club scene captivated his imagination and it wasn¹t long before he was caught up in the refreshing wave of the then fledgling techno movement and decided to become a dj.
meanwhile, eiven is renowned for his thrilling experimentation and diversity in his performance.
his great knowledge and experience in the areas of disco, hip-hop, house and techno have become the basis for his new, interesting and individual music productions.
in 1997 he formed the project "kama arts" together with fellow dj/producer lyric johnson.
his first fully professional dj-gig, at the notorious kit kat club in berlin in june 1998 was as the duo kama arts - and since then, many dj gigs soon followed in and around berlin, as well as in many foreign territories.
his recording debut was made on the highly acclaimed mfs compilation album "assorted - stadtansichten" as kama arts, with their track sunshine-sunset. this soon lead to a single release on mfs of "donnervogel" (thunderbird) in the autumn of 2000.
in january 2001, kama arts released their first dj mix-compilation called "feel". this was an adventurous and complex endeavour, as all the tracks had completely different tempos, ranging from 124 bpm to 138 bpm. the idea was to create an album stemming from one famous bass line. choosing from a selection of music all of which contained in some way or another, a reminiscence riff of the legendary donna summer "i feel love" baseline, they mixed together a collection of magnificent tracks, to produce a milestone of an album. such tracks by artists as sven vaeth, pascal feos, corvin dalek, bt, underworld and naturally the original patrick cowley mega mix of donna summer herself, are all featured on this highly impressive mix-album.
a string of remixes soon followed, for artists such as the french project by mr sam, madrid inc, or the exotic black emmanuelle.
eiven's enthusiasm for club music from an early age and the excitement generated by the constant development of the citys clubscene, inspired and fused is ideas for dj-ing and production and fuelled his ambition towards greater perfection and professionalism, which has, in turn, lead him to the realisation of his dream.
eiven¹s first solo single on mfs, was "light & hope" (b side: "from dust till dawn"). this single was influenced by the events of the 11 sept 2001 and the aftermath of this devastating event. eiven combined both the sadness and frustration of the event, as well as the optimism which many were desperately seeking at this time. this was the end of an era the twenty first century had begun with a big bang.
being a true eastie boy and using this event as a queue, he decided that the time had come to change his musical direction and firmly establish his own sound.
he changed labels from mfs to flesh and joined with his label colleague corvin dalek to persue the erotic delights of the more excitable sound of the coming new europe "wet&hard". a move which has proved itself, especially after his successful and highly praised remix for corvin dalek's single "pornoground".
eiven's second solo single "cocksucca" showed further the radical change of direction that he had chosen. very explicit, fast and provocative, this track was a definite favourite with all the girls.
this very strong single, with its jan kessler remix on the "b" side, made a stiff package, while subsequently establishing a foundation for the future sound of eiven major and the direction in which this very talented artist is moving.
shortly following this single, flesh released eiven¹s mix with ann travis¹s for her debut single "bondage dreams", as well as eiven's excellent dj mix-compilation "flesh for fantasy", which received many accolades from both press and public alike.
as a dj, eiven plays a very contemporary but individual style of deep and dirty wet&hard music.
his polished performances pulse with erotic energy. each dj performance has the masses gagging for more, from the futuristic foreplay to the throbbing techno thrust, his music is guaranteed to arouse and drive any throng into a screaming frenzy!
it is with this sound that eiven has successfully performed his own disreputable aural sex show throughout berlin¹s decadent and dark clubscene, such as the seedy and scandalous kit-kat klub's "after hour" or the disgraceful pornodrome and he recently performed with his label colleagues at the immensely popular pornoground party in london¹s leading club "the gallery", as well as with his label colleagues in duplex club in prague or locomotive, in stettin.
besides record production and dj-ing, web design has also become an important method in which eiven discovered he can express himself visually and his artistic talents are in high demand.
eiven is currently working on material for his first artists album.
