About Maniac
Maniac is a 17 year old Grime producer from Roman Road, Bow, East London. His first musical instrument was a keyboard, which he began playing at age 8. Still in primary school, Maniac had to pick up the recorder as part of his school scheme, which he enjoyed. Whilst growing up, Maniac was heavily involved in football; at age 13 he was part of West Ham Youth Academy. Maniac's love for football slowly faded away as music grabbed him by the scruff of the neck.
Early Music
At the age of 14, Maniac got his first PC. He immediately obtained software to compose music, and took a trip to PC World to purchase "Magix Music Maker". Shortly after remixing virtually every Grime tune he had available to him, Maniac proceeded to a new challenge, entitled Fruity Loops. He practised on this program daily, missing homework and staying up late in order to perfect his new found craft. By the age of 15, Maniac was improving and in Bow, word was getting around about the young musician.
The Beginning
At the age of 16, Maniac was at a comfortable stage. He got his first play on legal radio station Kiss 100 in August 2006, as part of DJ Logan Sama's 'War Report' special. He produced two tracks on which resulted in a free give away (see influences section). Still 16, Maniac was asked by fellow E3 native 'Wiley' to vocal an instrumental entitled: 'Bow E3' which he heard whilst they were at studio. This was the song that propelled Maniac into the ranks, and brought him a high level of respect in the Grime scene. This track features on the excellent 'Playtime Is Over' LP, which is the 2nd album to come from Wiley. It has been named by many as their favourite track from the album.
Right Now
Now, at age 17, Maniac is keeping a clear head and is not getting distracted by any negative influences around him. He is cruising past veterans with ease which brings jealousy and envy in young Maniac's direction. Maniac featured in July's edition of 'Rwd Magazine' with friends and fellow musicians: 'Bless Beats' and 'Young Dot'. Still in his first year of college, Maniac is cool and confident, and is awaiting the next challenge of university in September 2008. In June 2007, Maniac was approached to do an official Grime remix of the hit song 'Do It' by Grime artist 'Doctor' which featured American R'n'B group 'ATL'. Maniac is bursting through with a new wave of young talent, most of these artists are working with him. Maniac is considered by many as the grime scenes 'Best Young Producer' - a title he would be happy to have.
Production
Maniac has mastered the 'Fruity Loops' programme. He is also comfortable on 'Reason', 'Cubase' and uses Logic at the studio. He has an enormous amount of 'VSTS' and samples which he uses in his production with class. Maniac turns 18 on January 9th 2008.
