WHO AM I?: Life to me is a gift. Every day offers a fresh start, a new lesson to be learned and a new experience to be had. I’ve had the benefit of experiencing physical hardships that allowed me the opportunity to view life in a very different way. I have learned strength, perseverance and most importantly just how lucky I am to be here. After 30 years on this earth I have finally come to the conclusion that it’s the connections we make with others & what we do with them that matter. When I look back at my life all I see is the friends, family, the experiences we had and the lessons I learned. I still work every day on my pain management (facial pain) after 12 years but have become pretty adept at it. I try to make the distinction between controlling pain & controlling behavior. Oddly enough, I am actually thankful for it as it's given me such a different perspective on life and a creative outlet in photography, music & writing..
My art truly reflects my experiences, my desires and my philosophy on life. It provides me with both a mental & physical escape both by creating it and enjoying it. My music takes me away for a while & my photography reminds me that you don’t have to travel hundreds of miles to see a gorgeous sunset or a completely still lake at dawn. Photography is fairly new to me though it’s been something I’ve wanted to do for many years. I’m still learning a lot and have met a couple people who are teaching me the ropes. They have been kind with their praise & encouragement and I am beginning to feel like I may have something to offer. Music, on the other hand has been with me ever since I was a kid. My first album I can remember listening to was Sgt. Pepper‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band on these old giant headphones...still my favorite record of all time! I’ve been making my own instrumental albums (guitar based & semi ambient) since 1999 and now have 8 of them. I call them headphone albums (Sgt. Pepper's kinda stuck with me)as they're 'designed' to be experienced that way.
If your interested in my photography check out the little zazzle store on the mid left side of this page. You can click on it to go to the web site. I not only sell my photography but cards as well. For my music I have a myspace music page you can check out at music page to read about & listen to the music.
Some basic info: I’m 30 years old & single, I love music & photography and the arts in general. I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology graduating Magna Cum Lade. My original plan was to go for a PhD. & work in the field but that’s on hold right now due to my facial pain & heart (I have Cardiomyopathy but I’m beginning to get better). I live for the small things in life be it a conversation with a friend or a great rain storm. I am always trying to learn new things and I gravitate towards people who have something to teach me. I’m pretty open to meeting & making new friends as it’s the connections we make that truly last in this life. I love my friends & family to death and would do anything for them. I love to read but watch very little TV. I own my own business which does the trick though it’s nothing permanent. I love making people laugh whenever possible and appropriate. I try to be a good listener, probably one of the reasons psychology intrigues me so. I try to look at people’s problems from their point of view rather than inserting mine. I believe that respect should be given to all, even before it’s “earned”. It just makes life so much easier that way and gives me the opportunity to gain people’s trust and their respect much faster. I believe my flaws come from my strengths as is the case with most everyone. I try to work on myself and grow while keeping in mind that I’m not, nor will I ever be…nor do I want to be perfect.
