About Me

I make autism awareness jewelry. This is a passion for me because it is so important that everyone become aware of this growing neurological epidemic. I am encouraged by parents who tell me they enjoy wearing my jewelry and how much it means to them. As gifts to caregivers, teachers, therapists, and family members, parents are excited by the responses they get. I feel priveleged to be able to make a difference in their lives. Art and music are in my soul. I love to paint and work in 3 dimensions, though I rarely find time for it. Musically, I love to sing, but Karaoke is the only performance oportunity I get at this point. Still, it's fun! I've dabbled with the piano and guitar, but have a long way to go before I could perform with them. I am pround to be the mother of 4 wonderful children, spanning the ages of 8 to 19. They are joys and challenges, teaching me something new everyday. Each day is filled with opportunities. Life is a gift.

My Interests

My children, art, jewelry-making, autism awareness, music, gardening, my pets, the beauty that surrounds us . . .

I'd like to meet:

~~ Parents of children with autism spectrum disorders ~~ Parents who have websites/web businesses related to autism ~~ Professionals working in the Autism Spectrum Disorders field ~~ Adults with an ASD diagnosis ~~ Artists and Artisans who have a website and/or make a profit!~~

Music:

Joni Mitchell, Issa (Jane Siberry), Brandi Carlisle, KT Tunstall, Dave Matthews Band, Nickle Creek, Neil Young, Melissa Etheridge, REM, Jill Sobule, Adrienne Pierce, Norah Jones and many more. . . I mostly love the singer/songwriter genre--those whose voices and words touch me.

Movies:

I am Sam, Nell, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane--to list just a few.

Books:

I love children's literature, especially anything by DR. Seuss! One of my favorite lines is: "Oh me, oh my, oh me, oh, my! What a lot of funny things go by!" Other favorites are: The Run Away Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and Stella Luna. Also, the entire Harry Potter series! Not a lot of time for "grown-up" literature, but I do like the books of Tracy Chevalier.

Heroes:

All of the parents who live day in and day out preparing their ASD children for a happy and meaningful life. Dr.Rebecca Landa of Kennedy Krieger, along with many other researchers who have dedicated their careers to the study of Autism Spectrum Disorders, creating a brighter future for our kids. Eleanor Roosevelt. Theodore Gieselle.
