Biography:
David Reihm & Blake La Grange have been playing guitar together since the seventh grade. For an elongated period of time they had tried playing in numerous bands with a diminutive element (Such as a new person or new instrument) being added every time they switched bands. Finally, the two knew what they wanted the most.
David and Blake that night came up with the idea to build a recording studio in David’s house and record, produce, and compose everything themselves. Earlier the next day they had cleaned out one of the rooms in David’s house and were ready to get some equipment in there. David and Blake soon jumped to their feet and were on their way to Guitar Center.
They already had their first album written and started recording it that night. This album is what came to be known as “Something In Colour.†The thing that they loved most about this album was that it was original music; they produced everything, and composed all of the horns on the album.
Although David and Blake liked having a small number in the band, they knew that they needed more permanent members to pull off what they had done in the studio. The thing was, they had been through this so many times with people coming in and then splitting up with the band that they didn’t want it to happen again.
Well luckily for them, a childhood friend of David and Blake’s played guitar and sang; and double luck must have hit them because he lived right down the street from David. What a nice young chap he was. They took Austin Cesear in for a while just doing a few back up vocals on the first album and being a member of the “Live†band. This quickly changed as they soon let Austin in the band. Now there were three…
David’s interest in only singing onstage lead to a problem as well. They knew they would have to get a permanent bass player eventually…but who? Recently after Austin had joined the band as a permanent member, David and Blake had made friends with a nice lad named Max O’Reilly. Let’s put it this way…the first night David met Max, they had written a song. They knew right then and there that eventually Max would be joining the band, but would he be willing to play bass?
Max agreed and joined the band. The Durée now consists of four members who have been in the process of recording their second album “Sweetie Shoots.†If you think this band moves at a fast pace then you should know that they have already written their third album! Their second record “Sweetie Shoots†will be released in June 2008.
The thing that separates The Durée from other bands is that they just want to make people smile and write music that people can listen to and dance their hearts away. The Durée runs the myspace, mailing list, and everything like that. So when you email the band about something, you always know it’s one of the members that is responding to you.
Last but not least, being under the influence of artists such as The Format, The Beatles, and Lindsey Buckingham, The Durée is not looking for someone to record them. No matter what kind of record deal The Durée receives, the members of the band will do all of the recording and writing. “If we ever get a record deal we will make sure that we do all of the recording, producing, and writing†– David and Blake.
Thanks again to everyone that has supported The Durée! You truly are what keeps the music coming.
Yours Truly,
-David, Blake, Austin, and Max
