Kuumba Dawa ~ Creative Medicine

A Musical Tonic To Move the Body And Free The Mind

About Me

Kuumba Dawa, Swahili for creative medicine, is the creation of local drum circles, African rhythms, and human spirit. This fusion has the heartbeat of percussions, the spirit of expression, and the consciousness of diversity and harmony. Kuumba Dawas music is saturated with African drums and flavored with world sounds. They draw from a variety of cultures to create tribal music that set them apart and makes the crowd get up and dance. This bands high energy African drumming is interwoven with original songs and remakes like Bob Marleys Get Up Stand Up. Kuumba Dawa continues to grow while entertaining audiences.
The organic process by which Kuumba Dawa creates and recreates music lends itself to a variety of settings. These include San Diego Youth and Community Services (SDYCS), TranscenDance Youth Arts, World Beat Center (cultural resource/music center), Balboa Park ~ Earth Day, Baja Bash Festival in Salsipuedes Mexico, Telemagica Festival, I Love a Clean San Diego/Friends of Rose Creek, and night clubs throughout San Diego such as, Winstons, Blind Melon, Dream Street, Jim Bells, and Coaster Saloon. They have shared the stage with the likes of Vegitation, Los Able Minded Poets, Psydecar, Agua Dulce, Sasha Butterfly, Freedom, Jordon Loder, and Middle Earth.
