THE CROW

If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them.

About Me

IT CAN'T RAIN ALL THE TIME .
~ WELCOME ~
This is a profile dedicated to one of the most amazing movies of all time, THE CROW. I was 15 years old when I first saw the movie and I loved it so much that I created this page. HELL, this may seem weird but after I watched the movie...I had this strong urge to paint my face up like Eric's *Haha*. The next day I told my family about it as well as my friends and they all were very hesitant about watching it. When I finally convinced them to at least hear the plot of the movie, they were begging me to lend or watch the movie. This movie proves so much and helps us all with our own situations in each way. For example, to me this movie proves that karma is a bitch, love conquers all, & angels do exist. So for those who have never seen this movie yet and are lurking my page...GO WATCH IT!!!! Do whatever it takes whether it's rent it from Blockbuster, order it ON DEMAND - if it's on their, borrow it from someone, download it off the web, or even flip to your TV guide channel every moment until you see it on a channel you have....and then tape it and then then spread the word. Because trust me you will thank me for telling you about this movie and all your loved ones will thank you.
~Farewell...For Now.

~ The Plot ~
Based on the graphic novel by James O'Barr, this fantasy follows Eric Draven 'Brandon Lee', a rock musician who is murdered along with his fiancée Shelly Webster 'Sofia Shinas' by a group of marauding thugs who terrorize the decaying city in which they live. One year to the day after his death (which happens to be Devil's Night), a mystical crow appears at Eric's grave; Eric rises from the dead and, with the bird as his guide, goes on a mission to avenge himself against Top Dollar 'Michael Wincott', the leader of the gang who killed him. {- Mark Deming, All Movie Guide}
"Because we do not know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustable well. Yet everything happens a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even concieve of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even that. How many times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless."
- Brandon Lee during his final interview
~ Brandon's Death ~
Brandon died at the age of 28 on the set of "The Crow". While filming one scene, where he gets shot repetitively, the cap of a blank (which shoots harmlessly) accidently got lodged in his spine after penetrating his abdomen. The doctors worked desperately for five hours, but it was no use. He was pronounced dead at 1:04 pm the next day. He was supposed to marry Eliza Hutton on April 17. His body was flown to Seattle to be buried beside his father in Lake View Cemetery. {http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000488/bio}

FIRE IT UP!

I'd like to meet:

~ Scenes After Brandon's Death ~

â… .) Eric Draven's death in flashbacks (this was the scene Brandon was filming at the time he had died);

II.) A scene with Eric walking into his apartment after returning from the dead was digitally composited from a scene of Lee walking into an alleyway with raindrops added (the rest of the scenes in the apartment were all done with the double)

III.) Lee's face was digitally composited onto the stunt double when Eric puts on make-up in front of a mirror to show his reflection

IV.) When Sarah (Rochelle Davis) visits Eric in his apartment, his face is not seen as it is actually the stunt double.

V.) The Crow was finally released in May 1994, and was a modest box office hit. It is dedicated to Lee and his fiance' Eliza Hutton at the end credits.

~ Random Facts ~

• Cameron Diaz was offered the role of Shelly but she turned it down because she didn't like the script! (Oh, she must've regretted that one)

• River Phoenix (who died in October of that year from an overdose) and Christian Slater were both offered the role of Eric before Brandon.

• Top Dollar, Myca and Grange are never referred by name in the movie.

• Michael Berryman plays the role of the Skull Cowboy, a character that didn't make it in the final cut of the movie.

• T-Bird's final words are from Book IV of Milton's "Paradise Lost". When Lucifer is found in Paradise by two Cherubs, he rebukes them for not recognizing him. They rebuke right back saying that his appearance has changed from being in Hell. "So spake the Cherub; and his grave rebuke, Severe in youthful beauty, added grace Invincible: Abashed the Devil stood, And felt how awful goodness is, and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely; saw, and pined His loss"

• The poem that Eric Draven quotes when he breaks into Gideon's shop is "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe.

• The order in which Draven hunts down the four killers is the same order in which they attack him in the apartment.

• The scene in Albrecht's apartment was ad-libbed by Brandon Lee and Ernie Hudson. The line about Shelley ("Believe me, nothing is trivial") was not in the script.

• Eric Mabius, who starred in The Crow: Salvation, had auditioned for the role of Funboy in the first film.
