I am here for Friends

About Me

I live in a little place in Vancouver with the three men in my life: my husband (Matt), my 3 1/2 year old (Isaac), and my 1 1/2 year old (Finnian). I finished grad school in April, which means I get to keep learning without having homework. It's a nice change. :) I work and worship in a church, in homes, and hospitals as a pastor. I am grateful for today, knowing tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

My Interests

sunshine, reading, family, walks with my boys, languages, water (fresh and salt), writing, all things Jewish, Christian-feminist theology. Above all (and part of it all), seeking God; working through the joy and mess of life in His presence.

I'd like to meet:

On MySpace, people I already know. Beyond MySpace:(Living) Marva Dawn, Roberta Bondi, Tirzah Firestone; (Dead) C.S. Lewis, Susanna Wesley, the prophet Deborah...and probably lots of other people.

Music:

Simon & Garfunkel, Jennifer Knapp, Gypsy Kings, Selah, Dvorak, Kutless.

Movies:

Bride and Prejudice (yes, I meant to say Bride, not Pride), The Great Escape, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Swiss Family Robinson, The Bourne Identity, The Fellowship of the Ring, Pride and Prejudice (BBC version), After the Wedding.

Television:

Survivor, House, The Office

Books:

There Once Was a World (Yaffa Sonenson Eliach); Crime and Punishment(Dostoevsky); Anna Karenina (Tolstoy); The Chosen (Chaim Potok); Mere Christianity, The Chronicles of Narnia, Letters to Malcom: Chiefly Concerning Prayer (C.S. Lewis), the Lord of the Rings trilogy (Tolkien), Memories of God (Roberta Bondi), the Bible (God and friends)

Heroes:

Jesus Christ, and my dad--I will see them both together, whenever I see them next.

Trip to Idaho

My sister had a baby about four weeks ago, and I have been crankily biding my time until I was free to travel to Nampa and see her and baby Jeff.  This past week I did just that, in the comp...

Birthday Fun and Anti-Americanism

My two kids are down for a post-beach nap, which means I will have LOTS of free time for the next few hours.  Free as in I can do whatever I want, so long as I don't wake them up and don't leave ...

That glass in your hand...

I don't drink.  Alcohol that is.  That is a rather insignificant fact in my life that I just don't think about...until I log onto MySpace.  And then I see pictures, stories, preferences...

Die Hard and District Assembly

My mom has been here this past week, watching the boys so that Matt and I could go to our denominational District Assembly without forcing the boys to hang out an unknown church all day.  But sin...

Miscellany

Yesterday morning I awoke to what I thought would be a normal Wednesday.  Matt was getting ready for work, Finn was just waking up, and I went to get my glasses after waving goodbye to Matt. ...

Mourning

Right now I'm writing a sermon on Genesis 3:6-20, a.k.a., the Fall.  It's for Mother's Day Sunday (Genesis 3:20 is the first time the word "mother" is used in the Bible).  Lots I could ...
