Making a connection with people is the essence of life.
When I'm not saving the world, I hang up my super hero clothes and engage my friends and family. I like to have a splendid time. Thrilling adventures are a plus, and these can include a night with good company laughing the evening away. I have climbed mountains, run marathons, and stood on the highest point in Africa, but I am not a jock--I like to feel alive. I have lived in Italy for 3 years, studying--among other things art history, and lived in East Africa, where I did research and taught 86 well-behaved Tanzanians, but I couldn't help but feel drawn to the Northwest. Now I am preoccupied playing career and paying a mortgage. Life can be quite serious.
Storing and retrieving data intrigues me. As I amass encountered information, it bogs down my goals. I believe smart-algorithms that I hardly understand will help me sort security markets and weather reports to find veiled, yet undoubtedly strong, correlations. I get distracted by the foreign price of kingfish. Developing world socio-economic reports make my bedroom look messy. I exercise while thinking about reforestation projects. I pay attention to amiable art by Calder and cyclists with vivid jerseys riding near my car, I am a dangerous spectator. /p
My friendship can come with perils. I kidnapped a 31-year-old woman, sending her to work in my office in Africa without pay for two years. On the contrary, loyalty has served me well, so I promote it is as the up and coming virtue.
Seattle is a cool town--working on making it better, see www.friendsofseattle.org and I serve as an Arts Commissioner for the City of Seattle.
I like people who give me tomatoes. I've learned from experience that store bought tomatoes are gross.
None of this has anything to do with Eistein's dreams, zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, Italo Calvino, or normal accidents. You can talk to me about any of them.

I am not sure what got into the Chemical Brothers when they departed and wrote the Salmon Dance. It is a techno-hip-hop-dorky-PNW-seasmie-street sound. Do you remember when REM was on Seasmie Street? This must be the big break CB were hoping for. Did you know I could go to Japan and back? Amazing.
