Steve Traycee Sings Eric Church's "Sinners Like Me"
Montana born Singer and songwriter Steve Traycee started his musical pursuits at age 8, by singing in his church and elementary school choirs. At age 9, he began to play the trumpet, and played it all through his high school and college years, where he studied music. He continues to play trumpet to this day. Steve started playing the acoustic guitar when he was about 10 years old when his mom bought an old Conn nylon string guitar at a neighbor’s garage sale. Through the 80’s and into the 90’s he followed the likes of Van Halen and Def Leppard. He began his interest in country music in 1991 when he had the opportunity to meet Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Neal McCoy and Mark Chesnutt at a music convention. He seriously began singing and songwriting country music in 2005 as a solo artist in the Denver area, and in the Fall of 2007 he brought together some fantastic musicians to form the Steve Traycee Band. The songs Steve writes are based on experiences in his own life and observing what goes on around him. “I like to write songs about what I know, and things I’m curious about, and I want to touch people's lives with the songs I write" he says. He continues every day to develop his songwriting. Steve’s vocal style and songwriting are influenced by artist such as Vince Gill, Phil Vassar, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban and even rising country star Eric Church. As the son of an Air Force officer and stay at home mother, Steve spent much of his young life moving from place to place (7 places in all). He graduated High School in Colorado Springs and now makes his home just outside of Denver, Colorado.Steve has played Acoustically around the Denver area at places such as Andolini’s, The Arapahoe County Fair, a coffee shop or two, Copper Country’s Peak Performer competition, Various Colgate Country Showdown Preliminaries (at the Grizzly Rose and in Walsenburg), a few private parties and even auditioned for Nashville Star in 2005 in Phoenix.
