Queen Maud Land had its start in 2000, after Gilden Tunador (Stella Maris, Carissa's Wierd) and Paul D'Amour (Feersum Ennjin, Lusk, formerly of Tool) left Seattle for Los Angeles. In their Topanga Canyon hideout, they recorded songs and formed a live band with drummer Chris Forrest (Lusk, Speedbuggy.)As an ethereal yet powerful combination of Electronic and Acoustic drums, Synthesizers, Bass, and Guitar, the three piece opened for and/or toured with bands such as The Black Heart Procession, Modest Mouse, Quasi, and played locally in the Silverlake area of L.A.Queen Maud Land is an on-going recording project, but no live shows in the near future, as Gilden is working with Robin Peringer (Carissa's Wierd, 764-Hero, Band of Horses) on a new record for their band Everlasting Arm and Paul on the new Feersum Ennjin record and simultaneously composing for Film and TV.
