Anyone who is interested in any of my interests. My interests tend to be on the margins so it is difficult to meet folks who actually know what I am talking about.
I am currently having a very retro 90's period. I am listening to alot of 'The Swinging Utters' 'Social Distortion' 'The SUperSuckers' I also have never tired of bands like 'The Clash' 'The Pogues' 'Stiff Little Fingers' 'Agent Orange' 'Ministry' 'The English Beat' 'The Specials' The Skatalites' 'Operation Ivy' 'The Tossers' 'x-ray Specs' and my irish heritage loves almost anything Irish (hate that enya esque stuff but love the rowdy drinking songs)
My favorite movies are : A clockwork Orange, ALL (Yes all 6) of the star wars movies, 1984 (the 1984 version), Dune (the movie and the 2 excellent miniseries put out by Sci-Fi channel), Princess Mononoke,
I dont watch much television but the few I do watch Are : Heroes : I am a dork for this kind of stuff Drawn Together : I just love the humor of this show Sea Lab : Who doesnt love Black Debbie The Wundershowzen : every now and then I want to feel like my soul has been soiled and I laughed the whole time it was happening
Just read a series of books by Bart d. Ehrman dealing with the early christian Gnostic sects. I highly recommend them. recently read a book called 'The Lavender Scare' it deals with cold-war era persecution of Homosexuals and the early days of the Gay-rights movement (it didnt start at stonewall baby) also read the 'Real Eve' by joseph oppenheimer. Its a study on Mitochondrial DNA and the Y chromosome and how they are being used to track human migrations out of africa. As for non-academic stuff I LOVE the entire Dune series (even the ones his son and Kevin Anderson put out), I also recommend that everyone read the following authors if they like a good laugh (all are to verying degrees vocal about their homosexuality though none is vulgar or pornographic) : Michael Thomas Ford (he doesn't know it but he is my future ex-boyfriend) David Sedaris, & Dave White I also recommend that anyone who likes good writing and good art check out a comic called 'Y:The Last Man'
Frank Kameny Jerry Adams Joseph Plunkett James Connelly Neil Gaiman Aldous Huxley anyone who can either inspire me or make me think that perhaps the world really isnt the shithole it appears to be turning into
