Kenshin is the main character of the story. He can cook, clean, baby-sit...and of course---fight. During the revolution period, Himura's role in the revolution was so infamous that it earned him the title "Hitokiri" (Killer). To put the name and his past behind him, Himura returned to his original name of Kenshin, reversing the blade on his sword to make it non-lethal. He becomes a "rurouni" who does not kill and protects the others. One day, he meets Kaoru Kamiya...and the story begins

Battosai Himura's role in the revolution was so infamous that it earned him the title "Hitokiri" (Killer). To put the name and his past behind him, Himura returned to his original name of Kenshin, reversing the blade on his sword (sharpening the inside of the curve of the blade leaving the outside curve dull) to make it non-lethal. He meets Kaoru Kamiya, an optimistic girl who is the first of several friends to accept him for who he is, not who he was. But Kenshin's past will not leave him alone, and he must revert to his Hitokiri persona to fight various challengers who would make themselves famous by defeating the "Killer."
