I love music, travel, reading, walking, and being home. I used to love snow skiing, but I think those days are done. I will be very disappointed if I don't see Italy and England before I die. (Probably the whole English teacher thing...but I really want to walk where Caesar and Shakespeare walked.)
I'd love to meet Harper Lee. She wrote my favorite book, which I've been teaching for 24 years now. I want to thank her.************************************************

I heard Barack Obama speak at a rally in February 2006. He makes me believe that individuals can make a difference and that we have a responsibility to do so. I think he can inspire Americans to do better for ourselves and for each other. Someone said that he doesn't have enough polictical experience. That may be what I like best about him. I think it is time for someone without so much political experience to run and win. I've had enough of the game playing and party politics. I'm ready for someone who says right is right and wrong is wrong, and it doesn't matter whether you're Republican or Democrat. Fair is fair and it is time we acknowledge that. I hope he continues to be the person I think he is. ***********************
Cool Slideshows!
Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, Elton John, Jimmy Buffet, Harry Connick, Jr., Carole King, Journey, Queen, Chicago, Garth Brooks, Phil Vassar, Chuck Berry, Rod Stewart, Jimmy Durante, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beach Boys, Almost anything the kids drag in...though I prefer to avoid most rap...and I love the really old stuff.
I love movies! Romantic comedy, musicals, animated kid flicks, and adventure...anything but horror! Shrek and Forrest Gump are two of my all-time favorites. Almost anything with Tom Hanks in it is a winner, but I am in love with Harrison Ford and Kevin Costner!! (Love the Indiana Jones movies and "Field of Dreams.")
TV will ruin your life. (That's what my dad told me and he is almost always right!) However, I love: Grey's Anatomy, Survivor, Amazing Race, Brothers and Sisters, CBS Sunday Morning, and Men In Trees. My all-time favorite is still MASH. And to be honest, a group of us used to rotate skipping classes in college to watch The Young and the Restless. I still love that soap! So glad for DVR!
To Kill A Mockingbird, Our Town, The Year of Magical Thinking, Kite Runner, The DaVinci Code, Gone With the Wind, The Human Comedy, Two From Galilee, The Harry Potter Series, Holes, Little Women...and many, many others!! Lately I find myself reading a lot of youth fiction, so I can recommend books to my students. I will always love Gone With the Wind...the book, not the movie. (It just can't live up to my imagination.)
My husband and daughters, my parents and siblings all head the list. These are followed closely by some of my colleagues in education. And finally, I have some students I am in awe of: they have accomplished a lot, overcome incredible adversity, or are really strong in their beliefs.
