TODAY WE RISE – is more than just the name of this five piece hardcore squadron from Wuerzburg (Germany) – in 2008 it seems as if this slogan is becoming an auspicious reality for the band.
Founded in early 2006, the musicians involved all got the urge to break with musical and scene-related stereotypes and go their very own way. Whilst still hardcore-based, all their songs develop an amount of melodic catchiness that, once listened to - is almost impossible to forget. It’s like a cool hardcore version of the song you listen to in the radio and have in your head all day. You know what I am talking about.
Solid musicianship and a great strength in creating melodic and heavy songs as a team, are some of the advantages TODAY WE RISE come up with. But their predominant excellence flowers out on stage, the place where the band obviously is made for. A band that feels comfortable on stage, far away from trying to come up with any clichees, finds a way to communicate WITH the audience instead of just playing and posing FOR them. Over the past two years through countless shows all over the place (including support shows for the likes of Sick of it All, Madball, Walls of Jericho, Stretch Armstrong, etc.) TODAY WE RISE have made a lot of people move.
In order to ban their live-energy and great songwriting-abilities on plastic, TODAY WE RISE released a three song debut demo CD in 2007, which received an amazing press-response in offline and online media. Reading these reviews you get the feeling that everyone who listend to those three songs acknowledged the band’s potential and envisioned a promising future for TODAY WE RISE.
Same with us here at Let it Burn Records. TODAY WE RISE is the first band ever to be signed as a result of sending us a demo and not because we have known them already before. We are at least as excited about this collaboration as the band is and look forward to releasing their debut album in autumn 2008. We already got the chance to pre-listen some of their new material, which only fortified our belief that 2008 will be the year of TODAY WE RISE.
