About Me

Hey Folks, I guess if you're reading this you probably either know me or your interested in thefreecakeproject. Otherwise this could be pretty boring for you. To be honest, it might be pretty boring anyway: who wants to read a happy story? I don't have much interesting stuff to put on here: no music, no artwork, no witty blog. But it's easy to put this type of site together and it might provide a way for those of you whom I haven't seen for a while to see what me and Beck have been up to. Newent is pretty close to paradise for me. We can get into really nice countryside within about a minute's walk of the house, there is wild food in outrageous abundance, the greengrocer's and butcher's overflow with local organic produce and the charity shops are all good. I have my wee lab in the garage, where the wine making, and other stuff, happens. This is about as rock and roll a lifestyle as I ever really wanted. The only big difference between this and the childhood dream is that all the wild food and the wine making doesn't actually make me into a wizard. Never mind.My daily commute is a twenty minute cycle along beautiful, deserted country lanes to the workshop, which is also really nice. I'm getting a decent start with the guitar making, although a few customers wouldn't hurt a bit. I'm also working crazy long hours, and I'm broke, but that's self employment for you. I don't have too much to complain about at the moment really! This all sounds a bit cosy and smug I'd imagine, it sure does to me. But rather than feel guilty about life going rather well I thought I'd try and cheer other people up a wee bit too. Have a look at thefreecakeproject, linked from the mygroups bit to the left of here: it's far more interesting than all this crap!

My Interests

Wild food foraging, roadkill, wine making, cooking, gardening, being in the woods, climbing, sailing, kayacking, naturalism, naturism (when I can get away with it), giving away free cake, and singing (badly) around campfires.

I'd like to meet:

You, at least once...

Music:

The Pendulums, The Incredible String Band, Igor Stravinsky, Aphex twin, JJ Cale, Neil Young, Leo Brouwer, Eden-Stell Duo, Cauld Blast Orchestra, The Impossible Flower, Gong, Led Zeppelin, Hawkwind, Ivor Cutler, Miles Davis, Mrs Mills, Eat Static, Johnny Pineapple and his Hawaiian Holiday Orchestra, Steve Reich (in the afternoon), Meredith Monkeys, Moondog, Colditz, Boban Marcovic, Frog pocket, Silver apples, White Noise, Mike Hastings (on the rare solo outing), Weather Report, Augustin Barrios, Baden Powell......oh and more, more, always more...

Not too fussed about films really.

Hate it. With a passion. Don't have to live with one anymore. Yippie!

Books:

Largely non-fiction.I've also enjoyed Kurt Vonnegut, Turgenev, Dostoyevski (that spelling doesn't look right at all. Hmm), and some other things. I'm too lazy to investigate many authors though. There's so many, I don't know where to start. Non fiction, and independent thought, suit me fine for just now.

Heroes:

Many, all personal friends. No famous people.

My Blog

Hello to Old friends, New friends, and future Old friends!

Would you believe that this is the only picture I have of myelf? Except for a nude swimming one with Thor. Not that I'm shy about that, but it does say no nudity (not even with giant dogs, or Norse de...
