And so the first chapter has ended, and a new one begins........NitroDrenaline formed in October of 2003, and the band consists of two brothers from the North York ghetto and their cousin from Vaughn. Over the course of 2004 they came up with various original tunes, that blended their influences of progressive rock and metal, with overtones of classic rock and punk............................They documented many of these jams on crude recordings off of a video camera, or a minidisk recorder. The songs were purely instrumental at the time, lyrics had been written mostly by Mair but no one was confident enough to step up to the mic until Maddio oficially became the frontman in the summer of 2005. They played the first show at a Supernova Battle Of the Bands gig, on September 1, 2005, at the Reverb..............Despite a performance that had little to no lyrics, they managed to finish 4th overall on the Peoples Choice listings................................................Over
the next few months, the band faced some adversity. There was growing tension, individual personal issues, and a death in the family. The band had to cancel a show, and eventually creative differences briefly caused the band to split. Maddio continued to fine-tune his craft, while Mats and Mair have joined other local bands for other musical outlets.............................................In February of 2006, Maddio's father Frank invested in an 8-track digital workstation plus an array of crude microphones, giving the boys what is essentially a home studio. During this time the band reconvened, had a few more inspiring jams, and on April 29th, 2006 played at the Elmocambo with fellow rockers Kabulu Chair..............................................Throughou
t the later half of 2006 and first half of 2007, Nitro's jams became a rare event, due to conflicts in work and school schedules and other hassles. However, Maddio and Mats in particular were becoming much more influenced by the progressive metal side of rock, and their writing style took on a much heavier and more musically challenging direction..................and it was also at around this time where a devastating shock to the Lunardo family put the band on hold for the better part of 5 months. Maddio developed non-hodgkins lymphoma in his throat, and had to undergo a few surgeries and chimotherapy treatment. He was officially declared cancer-free by mid-september, and on Saturday September 22nd, had their first jam in 4 months. They hope to play an upcoming show by December in which they will debut new songs. The new chapter has begun!
