I am here for Friends

About Me

Soon, if you are on the dole hiking late at night through the southern Appalachians near a place that's name means peace, you might hear a pedal steel guitar eerily echoing through the dell and attached to it will be lonely me and I will be so happy to see you so that I can tell you this joke I've been practicing.

Television:

Northern Exposure, The History Channel, Ducktales, Dawson's Creek, Smallville, The OC, Animal Planet, adult swim, blooper shows, anything on TCM or FMC, Grey's Anatomy, Entourage, Any show on the discovery channel where there is a decent chance of seeing shit blow up, frontline, The History Channel, MXE, Lois and Clark, The Office,I also like to listen to radio shows like: All Things Considered, This American Life, A Prairie Home Companion, Studio 360, and most college/indie radio

Books:

Tale of Two Cities, Northanger Abbey, Vanity Fair, Jane Eyre, Middlemarch, Belinda, The Last Man, and pretty much any other Victorian Novels. I am starting to read books that deal with philosophy, theology, and apologetics. The last few modern books I have read have all been smashes by Yann Martel, Salman Rushdie, Arundhati Roy. Do you know any other good novels at least partially set in India or ones that discuss categorical imperatives? Also I tend to read most of the books that are finalists for all those fancy book awards. I take a lot of comfort that at least in the literary world those that are nominated deserve it.

Heroes:

humble truth-telling non-idealogues who gird themselves against rhetoric and the not quite lie (down), enduring lovers who know long-suffering (rewards like wine), patiently kind bumblers and those eternal forgivers (for interesting reasons), social workers (that should be comedians), those who wed willpower to reality and then get a divorce (to makeout with dreams without guilt),
