About Me

Every music artist and fan seems to be signing up to the MySpace, and I could no longer resist, so here I am, and see how it goes. I am a passionate music fan of modern music more than of previous generations. My tastes are all across the board, and I'm willing to listen to anything my preference being that it has some soul in there somewhere and you can find soul in many styles and genres: hip hop through dance and even rock in some places! But like I say, I'll give anything record a listen.
Too many people treat music as a disposable commodity, which explains the high amount of bubble gum pop, novelty tracks, boy and girl bands and pop idol artists that record companies invest so much time and money in, forced on us through constant rotation on radio TV and everything else, to shift as many units as possible. But as happens many times, these trends mean that todays happening celebrity styled pop stars end up in the dustbin tomorrow, being replaced with the next disposable pop act and fashion trend.
This constant rotation persistently blocks out the talented musicians, writers and lyricists out there who make music from the heart, for those who respect the great creative aspects of music and how people can engineer some of the most deep and captivating music to enjoy, heal, party to and drift into, done from vocals, raps, beats through to acoustics. That's where I'm coming from.
Dont get me wrong, I may like a few pop tunes here and there, I aint gonna lie But the balance at the moment is wrong, so wrong!

My Interests

Music:

The likes of Jill Scott, Terri Walker, Fusing Naked Beats, High Contrast, Calibre, London Elektricity, Armand Van Helden, Todd Edwards, The Streets, Navdeep, Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, Kanye West, Aaliyah, Ty, Outlandish, Prodigy, MJ Cole, Dwele, Tribe Called Quest, DJ Shadow, Jehst, Sway, J Skillz, Klashnekoff, Masta Ace, Nas, Mos Def, Gang Starr, Faith Evans, Common, The Neptunes, Nitin Sawhney etc...too many artists to mention!

Movies:

Don't watch that many films, but my favourite films include: The Shawshenk Redemption, La Haine, City Of God, Toy Story 1 & 2, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Trueman Show, Forrest Gump, Dil Se, Mr India...so a bit of a mixture there

Television:

Don't watch much TV, most of it is very repetitive in the UK. I like The Simpsons alot, considering how long the series has gone on and how funny it remains is a big achievement. I did like 24 loads, but have lost the plot ever since it moved to satellite. The Apprentice is a top show also - series 2 just as good as series 1.

Books:

Highly illiterate! I rarely read books, last one I read was Tunnel Visions by Christoper Ross

James Brown

How many of the best hip hop tunes of this generation owe their existence to sampling from James Brown, or even the artists being inspired by the legacy of the ground breaking character? A fair few I ...
