My Interests

Dead Pixels- Not Tonight (Dirty Tricks Records) It starts with a Cramps-style guitar over a slow disco beat, but bizarrely places the vocals of Girls Aloud as the cherry on this particular musical cake. There is a hypnotic electronical rhythm running throughout, (a la Goldfrapp), which doesn..t take long to grab your mind and, unexpectedly, you find yourself wanting more. Luckily Danish beauty, Lone Blomhoj and her band don..t disappoint and the second track/b side, ..Thousand yard stare.. is even better.A slow, silky electronic beat, it..s an 80s Madonna revival with a rolling bassline that recalls the industrial depths of Depeche Mode. "Thwack!" goes the bass bins as the beat takes control mid-song - floor filling is guaranteed. It makes you want to scream for more when the silence breaks.Released Aug 28http://www.dead-pixels.co.ukSubmitted by Alex Kendall

I'd like to meet:

Dead Pixels ‘Not Tonight’ (Dirty Tricks). Sleak, sexy and seductive (as hell) are three words that wouldn’t be found wanting when attempting to describe ’Not tonight’ the debut release from London based trio Dead Pixels. But then catchy, infectious and audacious are another three you could hang onto their promising first impressions report. Pressed on limited quantities of red dyed wax this cute as a button hip hugging toe tapping cheeky chic is the kind of pristinely turned out mainlining cool pop that gives hi-fi’s love rashes. Blessed with a noire-ish strut like twang that can trace its bloodline all the way back to Link and Duane via Ry Cooder while simultaneously sounding for all its worth like its fallen dizzy and dusted from a classic Alex Cox movie while getting down and dirty with a swagger like shake down. This coy cutie has the pop sensibility of Girls Aloud as though cross wired with the Raincoats with a supplementary transfusion of early B52’s found cutting silhouettes on the flashing floors of a Studio 54 that’s been taken siege for the night by an art pop new wave party. Post punk soul anyone? Flipside features ’Thousand Yard Stare’ - pants, purrs, prowls to a backdrop of too die for side winding licks and fractured frosted austere electronics, kinda dark, a little bit groovy and without doubt very, very horny.
