"57 State - It's real. Believe that."
-Ron C. swishahouse
Spawned in the late 90's, G-reg and his good friend RDK began as two kids rapping over old ICP instrumental tracks and when they teamed up w/ G-reg’s older brother Matt, 57 State was born. Their exceptional talent combined with their outrageous stage performance was quickly noticed all over the Houston, TX scene.Their show developed over time to include more musical aspects, and they were even offered a record deal with the prestigious Houston rap label "Swishahouse Records". However, 57 State had other things in mind and wanted to expand their horizons beyond rapping over prerecorded tracks. After things didn't work out with Swishahouse they relocated to San Marcos, TX. Several years later and with the full band together, 57 State started really rockin’ and rollin’ around Texas, Louisiana, and even Mexico. Deemed the "Texas Rap/Rock Powerhouse", 57 State was on their way sharing the stage some of the biggest names in both the rap and the rock scenes (Afroman, Kottonmouth Kings, Paul Wall, and even Vanilla Ice). Their debut album "Rank and File", which features a track with Swishahouse's underground superstar Paul Wall, has enjoyed airtime on radio stations all across Texas and elsewhere. In fact, quite a number of copies of the album have been sold in Japan, in addition to the thousands sold here in the U.S. 57 State's full length sophomore album entitled "Bang Streets", which came out in early '06, really put them at the next level. The album has such a variety that it appeals to so many crowds, especially drunk people. This soon became a popular record for 57 State and local radio picked it up quick, especially Houston's 94.5 The Buzz. 57 State had undergone some changes in the group and shit doesn’t always work out the way you want it to. A few of the members dropped out and G-reg was faced with a dilemma. He wanted to keep pushing on so he moved back to Houston, got the studio together with his brother, and is working on a brand new album so….. 57 STATE HAS BIG PLANS TO KICK OFF 2007 – 2008!! With a newly remixed and revitalized version of their song "Chariot" featuring Paul Wall, they are about to take the media by storm. You can expect to hear this song all over the radio, in the clubs, and soon enough on T.V....Rumor has it that they are working on another slammin' song w/ The Peoples Champ which should be released along with the new album in summer 2008. Right now the only way to get "Chariot" and other songs from 57 State is through WWW.BANGSTREETS.COM. kEEP jAMMIN'!!!
