About Me

Barnacle is the ambient/experimental project of Thomas Kamholz. Barnacle focuses on the use of manipulated field recordings and soft synths to get his sound. The Barnacle sound is a mixture of traditional linear electronic music composition and improvised soundscapes. The name Barnacle came to Thomas after the creation of the first few pieces of music. These pieces were eventually released on the net label Rope Swing Cities. Emotional and aquatic, dark and brooding, all of these ideas are what comes to mind when listening to the sounds of Barnacle.

Barnacle returns to Rope Swing Cities with his second release, Troubled Waters, a dark and moody collection of ambient soundscapes. Barnacle's sound leaves little ambiguity to the overall mood of the music, which is dark and brooding; noises floating to the surface from the depths of the sea. A wonderful accompaniment to the dreary snow filled month we've been experiencing in Colorado; the bleak landscape of snow, perfectly matched by the path to serene nothingness that is evoked by the five songs that make up this release.
Along with the MP3 release of Troubled Waters, we will also be offering a CD-R for sale in our store . The CD comes with high quality versions of the entire release. You will receive the CD in a slimline case, accompanied by an art insert designed by Marshall I. Demeranville III. These can be purchased via paypal for $5 + $2 shipping and handling world wide. We hope you enjoy our newest release and thank you for all of your support!
