One Point Loss formed in 2003. Formerly the band Curious Ryan, the evolution
took full circle when it was decided that a more serious approach was needed
as well as a new name. The last show Curious Ryan played was a battle of the bands in which they lost by one point. When a sarcastic remark was uttered 'you should call your band One Point Loss" The band decided to take the negative remark and turn it into something positive. One Point Loss stuck and the band began writting songs in a more serious manner.
They recorded their demo with producer Murray Daigle(cauterize, not by choice, the mudmen) in December of 2003. With that the band was on their way. Shorty after being signed on to the agency group and winning a spot on the Barrie date of the vans warped tour via the ernie ball battle of the bands contest. One Point Loss began its battle against the Toronto scene playing every major bar, from Edge 102's new rock night at the legendary horseshoe tavern to sold out shows at the elmocombo, club 279 and the rivoli, as well as succesfull shows at Lee's Palace, the Tequila lounge and Club Rockit.
In December of 2004 One Point Loss hit a roadblock wich threatened their very existance and it was questioned if the band would ever be the same. In early 2006 life long friends Matt Elder and Rob Hughes decided it was time to get the band back on track. With fresh attitudes a revised lineup, the band was stronger than ever and shared a common goal, The top of the charts and rock and roll world domination!!
