Stolen Identity

Local band ruins everything

About Me

...gutsy, hard-edge rock great live sound...
National Campus Bands Comp.
...great sound goes really well together...
FreeZa Battle-of-the-Bands
Stolen Identity was formed in 2001 and has been infuriating the neighbours ever since...and is lucky that the police have only been called twice.
The bands number-one goal is never to be generically pigeon-holed, but when genre is discussed the best way to describe Stolen Identity is Alt Rock with Metal, Funk and even Latin flavours. The band likes to refer to their sound as a ‘pizza of sonic destruction’. Musical influences include Incubus and Nirvana; their music has been compared to Cake and The Matches.
2005 was Stolen Identity's first big year, playing many private gigs, as well as a FreeZa gig with 28 Days, and the National Campus Bands Competition Battle of the Bands at The Tote. So far, 2006 has seen Stolen Identity working towards their first studio recording.
Having had a taste of public love, Stolen Identity wants to get out there and really get noticed this summer, by playing as many gigs as possible, in as many different places as possible, to as many different people as possible.

Band Members:
Tom Andronas (Singer) - Founding member of the band, and all-round nice guy, Tom has been singing for the last 10 years. Heavily influenced by singers Brandon Boyd of 'Incubus' and Felix Riebl & Harry Angus of 'The Cat Empire' (or sometimes just heavily under the influence), Tom is an avid, energetic performer who puts in 110% and thrives on the energy of his audience.
Brendan Thompson (Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals) - Influenced by guitarists such as Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan), James Hetfield (Metallica), Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) and Mike Einziger (Incubus), Brendan uses this eclectic blend of styles as his base and adds his own unique flavours to create a pizza of sonic destruction that leaves the listener craving for more.
Leigh Crosbie (Rhythm Guitar/Keyboard) - Leigh holds the record for most songs forgotten in the shortest period of time, and we think he's secretly proud of that fact. His definition of "rocking" involves a Grandma and a rocking chair, although one thing he has going for him is his ability to play Keyboard (albeit with T-Rex arms).
Andrew Miller (Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals) - Drawing on a wide range of influences such as Incubus, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, The Butterfly Effect, The Living End, and Disturbed, Andrew brings his own distinctive touch to the band.
Ewen McRae (Drums) - Combining influences from Jose Pasillas II (Incubus) to Matt Tong (Bloc Party) to Shannon Larkin (Godsmack) among others, Ewen plays with trademark exuberant energy and personal flair. His ever-changing (hair) style is something that makes every performance different and his on stage presence is something to behold (even if he is behind a kit). Ewen looks forward to fulfilling his dream of spontaneous combustion in the year ahead.
