But did you get both sets of tubes?

About Me

first they ignore you,
then they laugh at you,
then they fight you,
then you win.
- Mahatma Gandhi
...I stole this from John Mayer by way of Frid...
'Here's the question: what do you change? Whom do you call that you haven't spoken to in years? Whom do you realize has been toxic to your heart and drop with surprising ease? What trips do you cancel, and what trips do you book? What can't you be bothered with anymore? What's the new you like? Think about that, and then ask one more question. Why not just change it all right now? (Working on it...)' J.M 0ctober 29th.
likes: daisies, animal crackers, thunderstorms at bedtime, reading til my eyes burn, puddle-jumping, climbing under the covers on a cold afternoon, flannel pj bottoms & wooly socks, the smell of turf burning in Ireland, the smell of diesel fuel burning anywhere, sundays during tax season, sundays during football season, writing letters, getting letters, watching the weather channel, laughing to the point of tears, crazy looking gym shoes, pigtails, iced tea, headbands, updating my ipod, being the first one of my friends to hear a great new song, that first minute when my cell phone rings and it could be anyone, watching documentaries, watching golf, pretending to understand soccer (specifically Liverpool - since it's my godson's FAVORITE team), orange gatorade and my friends.
dislikes: artichokes - unless of course they're part of a dip ;) weak tea and weak handshakes and songs with lyrics that say nothing - what is Fergalicious?
PET PEEVE ALERT: putting more than three dots in an ellipsis. There are ONLY three! no more... no less!

My Interests

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
- Steve Jobs

And from the wonderfully insightful Elisabeth Kubler-Ross - who's book has gotten me through a lot:

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

Watch Ciarán Flynn's Remind Me - great voice, honest lyrics

I'd like to meet:

funny people. not people who think they're funny, but people who actually are funny. like ALL of the people on my top friends - they really are funny! :P

oh, and these lads ->

..

Music:

Closeted country fan. Listens to XRT to keep up with the Jones', but listens to US99 in the car.
Fan of singer/songwriters: Ryan Adams, Matt Nathanson, Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Ciaran Flynn, Mundy, & Mark Geary.
Like Brit/Irish bands: Bell X1, Radiohead, James, Snow Patrol, The Frames and the like.
Always a fan of Counting Crows, Toad the Wet Sprocket and (blush...) Hootie! Traditional Irish and much, much more.
Embarrasing iPod find: Westlife - sentimental reasons.

Movies:

Dead Poets Society, Glory, Shawshank Redemption and Life is Beautiful are on my all-time best list. Wind that Shakes the Barley (or anything with Cillian Murphy, apart from Breakfast on Pluto) and anything with Daniel Day-Lewis. Would the two of 'em not do a film together?!?! But,that said, I'll watch anything entertaining (i.e. Boondock Saints)for 2 hours on a sunday.

Television:

Bears and Cubs!
Entourage and How I Met Your Mother are "can't miss" in my book. I regularly lose a few hours a week to Discovery and the History Channel. Strangely addicted to some reality programming (I'm a psych major - it's in my nature). Family Guy and anything with Ricky Gervais... so funny!!!

Books:

Gatsby - was there a better book written?
Nick Hornby, Colm Toibin, Malcolm Gladwell, Mark Twain, Alice McDermott and the Barrytown Trilogy and the like...

Heroes:

My grandparents - they made a lot out of a little and never complained. Anyone willing to follow their dreams of writing, music and art (yeah, I'm talking about you Becka, Ciaran and Frid). And anyone who stands up for someone who can't stand up for themselves.

Perhaps it stems from my interest in mental health, addicitons and counseling.  Perhaps it stems from the experience losing (and almost losing) people much before their time.  Perhaps it ste...

Dumbledores gay?

Oh my God. The nerve of that woman, pushing that strident homosexual agenda on our children. I mean for the love of God, what right does she have to trick us into thinking someone who might be ga...

a lesson learned

A lesson learned.   Sometimes the world throws a day at you that makes you sit back and re-evaluate where you are and what you're doing.  Today is that day.  (Actually, this week is th...

rush to judgment

How do you decide when the right time to pass judgment is?  I have always thought that, to be fair, you should listen to the argument at hand.  I've learned recently that not everyone thinks...
