My Interests

Graphic design, photography, movies, travelling, shopping, marketing and continuing education classes

I'd like to meet:

I've always admired Ann Landers and, were she still alive today, I'd love to meet her. I'd still also really like to meet C.C. DeVille, the guitarist from Poison as it's one of those things that you always want to meet your childhood hero! More than any of those people though, I hope to meet my grandmother and great grandmother again when my time in this life is up. I miss them deeply and hope to see them again.

Music:

Tori Amos, Hooverphonic, The Crystal Method, The Dixie Chicks, Pink, Madonna, Bonnie Raitt, The Prodigy, 80s Hair Band Music, Celine Dion (her French music), Daniel Belanger, K-Os, Nelly Furtado

Movies:

Recent flicks: Kinky Boots was awesome! And, no it's not some weird sex movie! The Lake House was OK, but then again, I'm biased because I love most anything that has Sandra Bullock in it!I am an avid movie collector and own probably the most impressive collection of romantic comedies of any person around, though I do have a mix of all types in my library. Some of my recent favourites include Must Love Dogs, The Island, Under the Tuscan Sun, Shall We Dance and Something's Gotta Give. Also, I've been a Superman fan since I was a kid, so I love all the Christopher Reeve-era Superman movies. Superman Returns was hard for me when I had such a strong idea about who Superman was from the old movies. In other words, I didn't like it!

Television:

My new favourite show is Gene Simmons Family Jewels - I have never watched something that made me laugh out loud during every single episode - nothing funnier than real life! And, if a rock star/chauvinist like Gene Simmons can have a well-adjusted family, there's hope for us all!Since HBO/Movie Central has cancelled many of my favourite shows (Six Feet Under and Sex and the City), I've been watching more reality shows like Dog the Bounty Hunter, Miami Ink and American Chopper. I love game shows and have been told by many who don't like watching it with me anymore that I should go on Wheel of Fortune because I always shout out the puzzle's answer before anyone else. Other game shows I like include Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Family Feud.

Books:

Though I have a hard time making room in my schedule for reading, I have read a few good books lately, including: The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Good in Bed, Little Earthquakes, She's Come Undone, The Martha Rules, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star.Trying desperately to finish: Goodnight NobodyUpcoming titles to read: Water For Elephants, Before the Brand, Management for Dummies, Learn to Manage Your Time

Heroes:

I don't know that I'd call them heroes, but there are definitely people in my life who have affected the way I approach life and who have made a distinct impression on me. I loved my maternal grandmother for her loyalty and the special time we spent together when I was a kid. My mother was a hard-working single mother and did her best to bring me up to be a good person, to be honest, fair and to care about other people's feelings and their struggles. I also learned from her how to emphathize and to look beyond what someone does and to discover why. My friend Lynn inspires me because she is so positive and content and has insight and wisdom much beyond her years.

The SAINTS KICK ASS!!!

I'm so excited that I don't know where to begin typing!  Ok, first I guess I have to explain that, since I'm a native Louisianian, I've been watching New Orleans Saints football since I was a kid...

Hot Pot Experience Leaves the Soft-Hearted Cold

The day started out well enough - exchanged my 60gb iPod for an 80gb and got $70 back in the process (god love Costco's exchange policy!). Got a new office chair, assembled it without incident and hea...

A Graveyard of Trees

I took a late walk around the park this afternoon, just before dark, so it was kinda creepy, though all the snow everywhere helped light the paths a little better than they would have been without it....

It's All Downhill From Here

Today was quite a full and fun day.  The snow has accumulated so much outside that it looks like Whistler with all the trees' branches heavy with thick blankets of snow, some of them bent over wi...

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

It's not often in life that reality imitates art or, in this case, the movies.  But, alas, today I did, in fact have, a made-in-Hollywood moment.  During my daily walk around the park near m...

Belated Thanksgiving

Ok, so I'm a day late in properly feasting in celebration of Thanksgiving, but at least I didn't let the food sit in the fridge and go bad from procrastinating on cooking.  I did a scaled-back ve...

Night Owl Update

Spending time alone can be so liberating and the best part is that there's no need for any compromise whatsoever!  You can watch what you want on TV, eat what you want for dinner, get up and go t...

The Rain Quik-ens

While it may seem strange to walk 15 minutes in the rain at 2am to seek out NesQuik to make chocolate milk, it is, nevertheless, what I've just returned from doing.  I think the Quik was just an ...
