About Me

Once upon a time in the East...coast of America was born a girl called Eliza. At the age of eight she complied to her mothers request to begin training as a classical pianist and flutist. A year later she gave her first performance at the Catskill Summer Music Festival in New York, won various competitions in both piano and flute and was a finalist of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ambler Symphony Competitions. Realizing she rather enjoyed playing and performing, she moved to England in 1997 to continue studying the piano at the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music with Ruth Nye. Surviving six years of living and playing with 60 other musicians the in middle of nowhere Surrey, she went to London where she is now finishing her third year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the watchful eyes of her two teachers, Ronana O'Hora and Paul Roberts. So far she has performed at Wigmore Hall, St. Johns Smith Square, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Purcell Room. She has toured Scotland, England and France as a chamber musician and a soloist and has studied and worked with Nicolai Demidenko, Mauricio Fuks, Rolf Hind, Byron Janis, Jeffrey Khaner, James MacMillan, Oleg Maslov, Ilya Ovrutsky, Martin Roscoe, Andras Schiff, Daniel Stroup and Harvey Wedeen. In December 2005 she spent three weeks in The Gambia as part of an exchange run by ECCO and GSMD to learn music and dance from four different African traditions. Her djembe and bum shaking abilities are now close to perfection. At the moment she is concentrating on what interests her most. Expanding her Contemporary Classical repertoire, collaborating with the composers of GSMD, preparing her piano with jewelry and kitchenware, raising money for a trip to Tanzania to take part in the Zanzibar Cultural Festival, working with a small company of actors and musicians on a cross arts Free Improvisation project and reading every word Kurt Vonnegut has so far written...
