About Me
The only way to tell Sef's story as an artist is to begin with his history in the music industry. Sef was born San Francisco and raised in Richmond,CA. He started recording at the age of 14 with local San Francisco indie label 3Reasons Entertainment. Working with 3Reasons Entertainment gave Sef the exposure to the music industry as an artist, while cultivating in him the motivation to immerse himself into other aspects of the music industry outside of being an artist.
Sef began working promotions and marketing for Universal, Arista, and WEA when he was 17 years old. Working the promotions arena allowed Sef to network with some of the industries hottest artists such as: Nelly, Tpain, Cash Money, Fat Joe, Trey Songz, Ray J, Nappy Roots, T.I, and countless other artists. Proving his ability to get the word on these artists out to the streets, at the age of 20 Sef began working for promotions and marketing for Interscope Recrods, building relationships with Game, G-Unit, and Shady Records. All of Sef's work with promoting and marketing different musical artists brought him back to the starting point in his career in the music industry - as being an artist himself.
In 1999 Sef started working with West Coast Super Group Kali Fam. Sef stepped back into his role as artist, rapping along side Kali Fam members D.S., Brasco, 18, and Erk the Jerk. The group's first release was Here Now, followed by a second album We All In, featuring Nelly, Redman, and Keith Murray. Sef continued working behind the scenes marketing and promoting Kali Fam, eventually securing a major independent deal with Pudgie Records. The latest Kali Fam album, How We Live, features D12, Boo Yaa Tribe, Isyss, Yukmouth, and Rufus Black. The three Kali Fam albums were released consecutively between 2000 and 2004, with Sef paying for the first two albums recording costs out of pocket.
Now that Kali Fam has secured their spot as music powerhouses helping to put the Bay Area on the map, Sef has chosen to dedicate himself to a solo career. He is currently working on a debut album entitled "Black Hollywood - The life". Nappy Roots, Lil Flip, Keak Da Sneak. Joe Budden, Tpain, Tha A'z, Diligentz and Lil Fizz of B2K are just a few artists scheduled to appear on the album. We can only patiently wait to hear what will be most definitely a powerful debut album by an artist who has already proven himself in the music industry on so many levels.
