Hi..
My stage name is Jamkilla or for short Jamkay, my real name is Jamal Matthews I am an Mc or artist whichever you prefer.. I prefer Mc. I started my passion for music from what you could say birth, I grew up with a very musical background, from listening to great black artist of all times zones such as; John Coltrane, Stevie Wonder, Micheal Jackson, 2 pac, Notorious B.I.G, Nas, Andrea 3000, A Tribe Called Quest, Big L, Lauren Hill, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, The Persuaders and many more right across the board to other racial backgrounds such as The Beetles, The monkeys, The Rolling Stones, Nirvada, Elvis Presley, John Lennon and MANY more once again. I had always had a secret desire and hunger for performance , except my problem being growing up as a very quite and humble child it was very much like juxtapositions constantly battling. It was when myself and my older brother Hassan had spent many nights awake listening to pirate radio and stations playing different genres of music from drum and bass to hip hop that we began hearing and listening to what we thought to be more uptempo music than Rnb or hip but less had banging than Dnb.. Garage.. In its original form of good vibes and catchy singalongs which grew a love for the evolved genre today that we call Grime. I first joked around making my own rhymes which I found easy due to my level of english at the time and learning other Mc's lyrics i.e. Mc Skibbadee, Mc luck and many more. For the present time I would not begin to take garage seriously as my own personal form of expression until I began hearing crews like Pay as you go, Heartless and later on So Solid and many others that i believed this to be my personal taste and genre and as it came from the UK, More so London where I lived, my property like many other youths. My brother Hassan had been a semi pro footballer at this time but he aswell had began taking music more seriouse as a hobby and in doing so created a small name for himself as Jigga Mc soon to be Mc Saskilla after the legendary clash of the two alter ego's.. Unknown to anyone at the time was I also wrote lyrics and often gave my brother help with some rhymes and it was more of a hobby now than my own acting career/hobby aswell as my own footballing activities. It was not my initial intention to become an Mc of any kind as I did not believe myself to be very good despite getting rated quite highly in my secondary school around year 9, it was after Hassan had comvinced me into recording my first audio with help and had sent it around, (As these where the thriving days of msn audios and early send and recieving sites). The feedback from this chune was very unusual to me as I had somehow managed to rake in interest from a majority of the people in this community in my area. It wasn't until after then writing a bit more and learning how to deliver my ideas from my mind to paper or computer to an audience that I decided to take this up as an actual hobby. My first clashes and what not with other Mc's taught me about what is now refered to as SWAGGER, or PERSONA but is actually a mixture of confidence and performance. My first over chunes and the feedback taught me about content and intelligence aswell as what people will and will not bother to listen to, whilst continuing my constant lock into pirate radio and songs from other artist such as; Wiley, Crazy Titch, Dizzee Rascal, Dirty Doogz, Dogzilla, Flow Dan, Rico Dan, Maxwell D, Kano, D Double, Hyper, All in one, Lady Fury, Flirta D and various others I learned about hype flow and what it takes to be a talented and good Grime Mc. It wasn't until later down whilst I was in the end of year 9 I decided that I wanted become a proper grime Mc, I had already now gained respect and backing amongst other people within and outside my area as an Ok Mc so I wanted to develop this and push it. I was asked to join Sas, BoyaDee Marco, Likle P and Tinie Tempah as a younger to their newly formed crew Nu Brand Flexxx which was currently getting 1xtra airplay and Deja vu aswell as other pirate and non pirate radio play. I agreed and then was joined together with Double Barrel who was also gaining recognition at our age group at the time. We was together for a few months and made various appearances at musical venues and places ready with fire in our eyes for respect and had many clahses and face offs in which we won and with every shady lose we rose to become better but due to the new found interest we was recieving from other groups of people and especially girls we lost focus and our musical connection but remained friends. I then made a decision to leave Nu brand Flexxx but due to my connection to the crew I still remained the first guy they would call if they needed something or wanted a younger Mc to represent them. After talking with my brother about how I could gain respect again to a higher level he mentioned me having or joining a crew of other Mc's, where my area had been quite segregated to batches or groups which often turned into gangs over time due to the large amount of youths who were probably only a small few had a passion for music I choose to create my own group I DOUBLE L (FORMERLY KNOWN AS ILLUMINATI). My first recruit being one of my closest Family and Friends SPOOKS AKA GREAZE and from their we modeled a group that broke any ethnic barrier any segregation barrier by having mc's such as TAPER, CRYSTAL, MASTER FRETZ and K DOT R. We also went against the usual mold of an mc from our area who talked about crime gang related incidents and strife and kept a happy uptempo vibe which I felt brought back the original feel from old school garage. After our names began growing and we began improving many other young Mc's wanted to join because we had the stability of frienship and understanding whilst the determination of success instead of allowing our life circumstances to side track us or create problems, but since then we under went over 10 crew changes which has left us as what many believe a very strong frontline with talents such as GLOCKMAN GMC, SOUL, FATAL 64, SKENZO AND KNASHERSZ.. With all due respect to our Selectors (Dj's) INITIAL & DRIZZLE. We have also been able to finish a 25 track mix cd called "THE AGE OF APOCALYPS ( AOA )" recorded at STRICTLY PAPER RECORDINGS (SP) which sold very well thanks to alot of fan support thankyou. I am now working on my own promos, mixtape, videos, radio airplay and much more whilst keeping up to date with college work.IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BOOK ME OR I DOUBLE L
