I run the Playboy Mailing List , a good place to discuss all things PLAYBOY.
I'm almost embarrassed to mention my Marilyn Monroe web site . I stopped updating it in 2002, but back in the day it was quite popular—for a long time it was Google's number one link for Marilyn.
Dining and drinking... I love to go out to eat good food. There are a lot of great places to eat in Chicago! My current favorites are Frontera Grill and Brasserie Jo, but that's only the tip of the iceberg...
I love a good Martini. My current favorite has Hendrick's gin and Noilly Prat vermouth in a 6:1 ratio. I'm also partial to Tanqueray No. 10 (no vermouth with that one...) and Plymouth gins. An occasional Manhattan isn't a bad idea, either.
Other interests: PLAYBOY magazine (I collect it), pin-up photography, classic movies (Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Alice Faye), and musicology.
Music:
I grew up listening to big bands (stuff from 1936-1943), Carl Orff (Carmina Burana: I would sit through the entire thing repeatedly at the age of 2 even though I otherwise had a two-minute attention span...) and Tchaikovsky (Nutcracker was a favorite). Of course I wanted to be a ballerina! I played the violin for many years. Mozart has been my favorite since I first heard him at 15, he is the best of the best. More recently I like Death Cab for Cutie, Pixies, Frank Black, Postal Service, and Air.
Movies:
I support Doc Films , the student-run film group at the University of Chicago.
I tend to notice movies for their visual qualities. 20th Century-Fox Technicolor productions are the best! The Gang's All Here (1943) is fun to watch and visually stunning (Busby Berkeley production numbers!). I also love Rita Hayworth, Alice Faye and Esther Williams (again Technicolor is best). Whatever happened to Technicolor, anyway?
Television:
If I have to watch something, it's: Las Vegas, CSI, Girls Next Door, Survivor, Ghost Whisperer, Medium. Older stuff: the original Twilight Zone.
Books:
Harry Potter series, anything by W. Somerset Maugham, magazines: PLAYBOY (photos and editorial), Time, People, Elle, Scientific American, Maxim (photos only).
Currently reading:
Little Lord Fauntleroy by Frances Hodgson Burnett
