As mentioned, I am a fan of Carry On Films and good British comedy. I also like cooking, and by inference eating. I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of that great British delicacy, Fish and Chips, the finest of which I have tasted come from Whitby, North Yorks. I like to travel and experience other cultures and foods too. And of course Beer. I am a very poor harmonica player but working on it. I have other fads and interests which I will write about on the blog when I get chance!
All my family and friends in one big room!!!The thought of meeting up with friends old and new excites me much more than meeting celebrities. With the exception of Jack Douglas and Peter Rogers, who always make me smile.
Like anything groovy, man! Preferred bands are Hawkwind, Rush, Gong, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Genesis with Peter Gabriel, Yes, ELP, Supertramp, Pink Floyd,Marillion.I am also enjoying a bit of a personal ska revival. Sounds as fresh today as it ever did. I have at last found a radio station that plays a lot of stuff that I enjoy -
I enjoy films. I am a big lover of the Carry On Film series, the highlight being Up The Khyber. I also enjoy the Doctor series, St Trinian series, the Confessions series despite the fact that it has Blair's father in law as one of the stars, and the On The Buses series, which is superior to the telly show. I have recently discovered the delights of Ealing Comedies. I enjoy Sci Fi, especially Star Wars, and also like Bond films, Austin Powers, Some Like It Hot, M*A*S*H, This Is Spinal Tap, Gregory's Girl, The Italian Job (but not the remake!) and The Blues Brothers.
I have a television. There is usually very little on it these days! However, Balderdash and Piffle was a televisual masterpiece featuring a golf-buggy driving potential superstar cruising around Pinewood.
The Carry-On Book by Kenneth Easthaugh, A-Z of Carry On by Richard Webber, The Carry On Story by Robert Ross, spot the link? I like Carry On books. I loved Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams for sheer escapism with a hint of the surreal and on a more serious note 1984 by George Orwell is a chilling read. Also a fan of this chap -
A hero is someone who will do something for somebody else for nothing.
