About Me

Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Sparkly stars

I love rock and roll and going to concerts and tribute bands. I enjoy outdoor activities in the summer, such as concerts, gardening, camping, taking walks, going antiquing, cook outs, flea markets, hiking. In the winter, it's kinda hard to get me out of the house, you will more than likely find me in the kitchen baking up some goodies or just cozying up to a nice warm fire.
I am a proud veteran (1981 to 1985) and served overseas in Korea for a year. I have traveled all over the U.S. by way of my job as an OTR truck driver, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Now I enjoy working from home as a medical transcriptionist. There is a certain freedom in working without bosses looking over your shoulder, which is annoying and intimidating.
I am an above-average mom/grandma, who strives to be DA BOMB for her kids. I am an independent, self-sufficient, hard-working woman, who is struggling during these hard times, but I'm not afraid of the struggle; this is where character comes from, right? I love music, concerts, local bands; my eggs over easy, my steak medium rare, my coffee strong, and my man stronger. I don't like liars, posers, bigots, game players, or people with no compassion; I've had them all, and I chewed them up and spit them out.

/Having lived in the Chicago burbs for 15 years, concerts were plentiful, and I went as often as I could. Here is a list of who I have seen: The Beach Boys (my first concert at age 14); Sammy Hagar; Guns n Roses; Robert Plant; Aerosmith 2 times; Joe Satrioni; ZZ Top 2 times (the last time I was 8-1/2 months pregnant with my daughter and got a 'sympathy seat' in front row!); Mellisa Ethridge; Rush; Motley Crue (along with my shirt signed by Vince at a meet-n-greet after the show and pictures of Vince close up and personal); Kiss; Ozzy with Mudveyne, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath; Queensryche twice; Journey; Def Leppard twice; Grateful Dead; Ligion, Crossfade in 3/2007 with my daughter; and in 4/2007 I saw the Little River Band and got my shirt signed by them all. I have also seen Kenny Rogers and Billy Ray Cyrus back in my country-girl days (lived in Texas for 1-1/2 years--it's catchy). In July, I went to my first blues fest and saw Tab Benoit, Big Ray and Chicago's Most Wanted, and C.J. Chenier. Tab Benoit is who impressed me the most though; his personality was so sweet in a southern kind of way. I just saw Great White (also in July '07)...wow, what a show that was. Joe Walsh was at the Illinois State Fair in August 2007...did you know he used 2 sets of drums for this show? Wow..that's a first for me to see.

Movies:

The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock was probably the scariest movie I had ever seen as a kid. Then as an adult I moved to Galesburg where the movie came to life in my back yard. Every year, the crows make their way out of the empty corn fields to search for food and wreck havoc on the town, namely doodooing all over our cars and causing an eerie sensation of a movie coming to life! Psycho is another movie that really moved me, but I don't have a video of that cause it hasn't come to life as of yet!

Television:

The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, The Jackson 5, The Osmonds, The Waltons, Creature Feature, all favs of mine as a youngen; current favs are Grey's Anatomy, Despirate Housewives, and Brothers and Sisters. I used to love CSI, but the crime scene doesn't do it for me any more. I wanna smile and laugh, not be horrified by what exists outside my doors...that stuff is just too creepy, but worse yet, it's real.
