About Me
Robert Kopec,acoustic & electric bassist from Fair Oaks,NY, leads many of his own groups and is an indemand sideman. Kopec's resume is diverse to say the least,gigs started at the age of 14 and lead him from rock to show pits,from members of the group Skid Row to backing the legendary Hennie Youngman.Along the way he has been a endorsee for Kramer Guitars,Fender Guitars,SWR Amps and DR Strings.
Robert's love is improvising in all forms and he has had the great experience of sharing the stage with master improvising musicians the likes of Hal Galper,Eddie Bert,Mark Murphy,Hugh Brodie,Michael Formaneck,Randy Brecker,Lew Soloff, Joel Rosenblatt,Jeff Hirschfield,Adam Nussbaum,Kazzrie Jaxen,Russ Johnson,Dean Sharp,Freddie Jacobs,Bob Meyer,John Esposito,Peter O'Brien and Rick Margitza just to name a few.
Kopec has also been composing for his trio & quartet and his residency
at the Oasis Cafe in New Paltz,NY every Tuesday evening lasted 6 years and was a bit of an institution in that town. There he lead everything from free flowing trios to modern big bands,adapting to the change and challenge.
Robert has brought that same restless energy to the Corner Stage
in Middletown,NY.That gig is now in it's second successful year and going strong.This past year found Robert recording and performing with many diverse projects...
